One of the most modern horror films is the Blair Witch Project. I would consider this to be Gothic Literature because it has the same qualities like horror and mystical beings.
"The magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland first appeared, edited by the ever-punning Forest J. Ackerman and influencing an incredible number of later horror stars."
"The first issue of Weird Tales is published, the first all-fantasy magazine in the world, it survived thirty-two years without ever showing a profit. The inaugural editor was one Edwin Baird, soon succeeded by Farnesworth Wright and, much later, by Seabury Quinn."
In 1865 Lewis Carroll published the soon to be famous novel known as, "Alices Adventures in Wonderland." Following Alice in Wonderland, Lewis wrote, "Through the Looking Glass," which was pulished in 1872. These novels had an enfluence on the genre in the 1980's.
"The Tell-Tale Heart" is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe first published in 1843. It follows an unnamed narrator who insists on his sanity after murdering an old man with a "vulture eye".
"Although he lived a short and tragic life, Edgar Allan Poe remains today one of the most-beloved mystery writers in history. His contributions to literature and the mystery genre cannot be underestimated."
