there were riots in the countryside. Peasants burned their nobles' chateaux, monasteries and buildings which housed public records. The Storming of the Bastille in Paris took place on the14th of July 1789. While the medieval fortress known as the Bastille had only seven prisoners, its fall destruction of the French Revolution and it became greatly remembered by the French Republic. It also became a holiday on July 4th called Bastille Day.
