I took this picture in a small but beautiful beach village. It is a lovely place for tourists, in the morning time several local fisherman goes out in the Sea for fishing. But Now there is a 3 months ban each year on Fishing in deep sea for the Fishes to breed!
So lots of boats r just sitting in the beach. If u r very lucky then U might see some boats going out for fishing during this 3 months!
I found this fisherman sitting on his boat enjoying the early morning breeze.

Low Tide!
This is a difficult place to photograph because there are so many choices! To the left of the background rocks is another beach accessable through a crack in the rocks and the light is different over there. Sometimes it is better on one side than the other, so you have to run back and forth repeatedly trying to decide what to do. I got plenty of exercise!
The map shows EXACTLY where this is.

It's a bit noisy and the color may not be quite right, but this is (as of January 11th) my best image of M42. The tracking has improved a bit since last year, but my method of polar alignment is still pretty primitive, so I couldn't go much deeper in terms of exposure. Regardless, I believe the color and processing are quite a bit more natural/accurate in comparison to my M42 shot from last year. (If anything is glaringly inaccurate or the colors are too garish on your screen, please point it out to me, as I processed this image on a laptop without a high level LCD.)
The majority if the 56 exposures (ranging from 30-50 seconds at f/6.3 with a vintage 1970's Celestron C8) were taken from severely light polluted skies (and almost direct moonlight). Over the last several nights, I have taken close to 150 exposures of M42, and this morning I chose the best 56 of those exposures and stacked them in Deep Sky Stacker and then processed the resulting image in Photoshop.
The exposures were taken with a new camera, a Pentax K200D, which so far has proven to be a major step up from my previous camera, a Pentax *ist DL. Pentax cameras are quite noisy in comparison to Canons and Nikons, but they preserve quite a bit of detail at higher ISO settings, due to a "hands-off" approach to noise reduction, which I like. So all in all, I'm very pleased with the new camera, so expect some great macros when spring rolls around.
I am quite proud of this image, which is a result of several nights of lugging around heavy equipment, driving back and forth to the country, frozen fingers, and a lot of processing.
Feel free to ask any questions about astrophotography, but keep in mind I am a novice more or less when it comes to this type of photography.
(EDIT - Jan. 15th, 2009: I have re-uploaded the photo as I added a few longer exposures to the stack, which now consists 64 photos stacked ranging from 30 seconds at iso 800 to 55 seconds at iso 1600. So the photo is now (hopefully) more detailed, somewhat smoother, and possibly slightly brighter.)

Hey flickr! Me and Aaron got home from Virginia today - we had such an awesome time there!! Bubbles (Aaron's GPS) sent us up the scenic route to VA which consequently took us around 5 hours - so we got there knackered and late, but the hosts Ken and joyce were SO lovely and kind to us. Our little place had a jacuzzi and this huuuuge comfy bed! We stayed in and watched home alone 1 (including all the behind the scenes/making of the stunts) which was awesome. I dreamed about being shot in the night which was horrible but I remember half way through the night Aaron rolling over and putting his arm around me and feeling way better in the dream. if that makes sense.
Today we went climbing mountains and ate at a really lovely resturant called the Palms. We picked up some cool pieces of art "Stuff made of Stuff" as christmas presents for my family and ourselves, and went climbing the mountains. We drove round the Blue Ridge Parkway for a while which was really fun, then headed home. I am about to go to bed now, we are going to watch an episode of friends (the one with the cop) so I better go!
Goodnight flickr :)

- My page has been visited 346,949 times and I thank you all for taking the time to view my images and follow my work!
It`s an honor, and a pleasure it will be to follow my fellow photographers into the year of 2009, and I wish everybody happy shooting and to be blessed with natures magical light.
This was shot on December 20, the night before winter solstice.
I waited till the last light barely sweeped the horizon and highlighted the details on the waves and pebbles at Larkollen Bay, southern Norway.
My mission was to use the light in a specific way that only the objects just above water surface was lighted, while the body of water itself was cast in shadows.
A tribute to winter solstice you might say ;-)
The winter solstice (vintersolverv) occurs at the instant when the Sun's position in the sky is at it`s greatest angular distance on the other side of the equatorial plane from the observer's hemisphere. This means that from now, the days will be gradually have longer periods of daylight.
Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied from culture to culture, but most cultures have held a recognition of rebirth, involving holidays, festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations around that time.
The word solstice derives from Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).
I wish peace and happiness to every living being.

We had a huge snowfall yesterday, which my running partner and I figured would not be cleared from the running paths this morning. So I decided to go for a drive instead. I awoke to the very cold temperature of -18 degrees celsius. I got some nice sunrise pictures. This is on a golf course in Caledon. More snow expected tonight!
We are putting up our Christmas tree today and doing the baking tomorrow. A few small gifts left to buy, Christmas cards to be sent and I will be ready for Christmas. Looks like it will be a white one. Yeah!
Update: I decided to upload the crop suggested by Erroba. It is almost exactly 8x10. I have been used to shooting with a 3:4 aspect ratio on my point and shoot. My DSLR is 2:3. I have found composing to be a bit more challenging. It often seems too wide, but I hate to crop out so much!

Today was AWESOME
I had two lessons - one of which we sat around and talked about interesting stuff, and the other where we watched a video! Then I went home, and on the bus there I sat next to an old lady who smelt just like my grandma. She died in February and I haven't smelled her smell since then so that brought back alot of nice memories. Then I got home and got a subway (yay!) and the guy gave me 10% off :D I saw the prettiest thing ever walking home - about a million birds EVERYWHERE so I figured that would be my picture today!

Mine and Aaron's accounts are now 'moderate' because someone on flickr keeps flagging our accounts, which is a bummer. We hope our photos don't offend anyone, they aren't intended to for sure. We've both written to flickr and asked for a review, but this has happened before, and if it happens again and doesn't get resolved, we may post our 365s elsewhere. gah :(

I got the bird cage from a little antique shop called Maggie Mays in Buxton - the lady who owns it is so lovely, she is always lending me out props and she has so much cool stuff in there! Tomorrow I get the afternoon off school so I get to take an outside photo, yay! :)
