"REGRET IS THE BEST WE CAN HOPE FOR" (91). "WITH LUCK IN A WEEK HE'LL LOVE ME" (92). LEVY MEETS ELSA AT THE LIBRARY. HE FOLLOWS HER TO HER APARTMENT TO RETURN HER BOOKS. SHE AGREES TO GO OUT WITH HIM BUT THEN LOOKS SAD. SHE THEN CALLS SOMEONE NAMED ERHARD.
"I'M JUST LIKE YOU, JACK, EXCEPT YOU'RE PRONE. I'M DEAD, BUT I WON'T LIE DOWN " (79) SCYLLA IS IN EDINBURGH, ON DETOUR FROM DIVISION WORK, WHERE HE'S SUPPOSED TO MEET WITH ROBERTSON TO ENGAGE IN SOME ILLEGAL BUSINESS. HE KILLS ROBERTSON. HE'S STILL PREOCCUPIED WITH HIS OWN DEATH.
"...BUT THERE WAS LIKE A RIVER OF [BLOOD], I REMEMBER THINKING THANK GOD IT WASN'T ME WHO SPILLED THE PAINT AND SAW HOW PRETTY IT WAS, HOW IT HELPED THE ROOM, MADE IT MORE COLORFUL AND EVERYTHING " (69). LEVY AT THE LIBRARY. WALKS THE PROFESSOR HOME. LEVY GETS EXCITED THAT PROF. B. CALLS HIM TOM. KEEP HIS FATHER'S GUN
