Today Wikileaks founder Julian Assange turned himself and was arrested on rape charges. But what does this mean for Wkileaks? As of now it doesn't mean a whole lot but if Assange is extradited in this Sweden rape case it could serve as a basis for say the US to charge Assange with whatever they choose regarding Wikileaks. Some assume that this arrest could be a set up but analysts reamin unsure.

Jamie Smith a former CIA officer said that the government has the capability of putting down the site and destroying all of the wikileaks' files and document even if they are away from the website. One reason the US has not acted immediately is because the leaked classified material is not putting our country's survival in danger. Another point to make is that Assange can not be considered as a terrorist rather consider a spy under the espionage act.

The cables released recently have given away information regarding information to say if the US was to be under attack. The cables give away information saying that certain places receive more protection than others. An example would be an energy source. The video also told us that Wikileaks has been knocked off the internet multiple times and has had to code is url to remain online.

Over the past year Wikileaks has shared with the public many confidential items. The first item was the "Collateral Murder" Video which showed a 2007 incident where a US helicopter was shown shooting down innocent Iraquian Civilians. The next classified information released was the war logs from Afghanistan and Iraq. And finally over 250,000 US Embassy Cables were released. These items are alarming to many and stirred up the world news.
Wikileaks is an organization created to share information normally kept secret from the people. The website is created by an Australian named Julian Assange. Wikileaks has startled most of the nation because of all the confidential information that has been released to the public. According to Assange Wikileaks' goal is to help the people to see what goes on inside the government. He says another objective they have is to reform human rights and by sharing this information they are doing it.
