Did you know that Nascar stands for "National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing"? I can see why they shortened the name! Nascar was founded by "Bill France Sr.". Bill France Sr., moved to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1935, to ecape the Great Depression. Daytona was the place where people tried to break record speeds, Bill knew quite a bit about this. France entered the Daytona event in 1936, finishing in 5th place. Bill then took over and Nascar was born. Today, Nascar is the largest sanctioning body of stock car racing in the United States.
