Ten of the proposed amendments intended to protect the citizens' rights. This is important because this protects practically everyone. Ranked 10/10
In May of 1787 there was a convention held. It was to created a new set of basic principales that determines the powers and duties of the government which is the Constitution. They made this when the Articles of Confederation did not give enough strength to the federal government. The constitution was written mostly by James Madison. The Constitution was then finalized in September of 1787. This is important because this is the rules that we follow today and it made our government strong. Ranked 1/10
This document created the first government for the United States and was replaced in 1789 by the Constitution. It stated that Congress would becaome the single branch of the national government, but it would have limited powers in order to protect the liberties of the people. Ranked 5/10
This event happened during a really cold winter about 20 miles outside of Philadelphia. These soldiers were led by George Washington. They have very little food and clothing. Some people didn't have any shoes or even a shirt. Even though they tried hard to get what they needed from Congress it didn't work. That's when George Washington wrote a letter to Congress: "To see men without clothes.... without blankets to lie upon, without shoes... without a house or hut to cover them until those could be built and submitting without a murmur, is a proof of patience and obedience which, in my opinion, can scarcely be paralleled (matched)." George Washington, quoted in George Washington: A Collection. Threw this winter here at Valley Forge they lost some 2,000 soldiers to disease and malnutrition. This is important because this signafies that we wanted to win badly and that we would do many things to get there. Ranked 8/10
This document was written to declare the colonies free from British rule. Thomas Jefferson was the writer for this document. Thomas Jefferson argued that all people posses unalienable rights, including the rights of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." And those became the three main parts of the Declaration of Independence. Then on July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. This act broke all ties to the British crown and the United States were born. This is important because this gave us the power to do more things. Ranked 2/10
The American Revolution was faught to get the colonies their independence from Great Britian. For this there were many battles that took place like Battle of Trenton, Battle of Bunker Hill, and Battle of Saratoga. This is important becaue these wars are what gave us the independence from Great Britian that we have today. Ranked 4/10
Alexander Hamilton seemed born with a head for economics. While still in his teens, he helped run a shipping company in his native British West Indies. Family friends then sent him to the American colonies for and education. Hilton eventually married into a wealthy New York family and began practicing law. He served as Washington's aide and as a delegate to four Continental Congresses. He is important because he what the one who mainly thought of having the government large, the people who are elite to run the government, and for the economy to be urban with big businesses. George Washington was the United States of Americas first president. He also led the colonists through some wars and Valley Forge. He made a great impact on our nation. This is important because he also was a big impact on the United States. Ranked 3/10
About 40 miles up the James River in Virginia, the colonists founded Jamestown. It is the first permanent English settlement in North America. In the end they were lucky because they have very poor conditions there. Because the lack of perparation cost a lot of the colonists their lives and so did many other things. This is important because this showed that we could make it on our own and away from Great Britian. Ranked 6/10
Leif Erikson who is a viking sailor loved to go on adventures. While sailing from west Norway to Greenland he came upon a strong wind. He then blew all the way to North America. He is the first person to come to this land other than the Native Americans. This is important because this was the beginning of North America. Ranked 9/10
