In August of 2007 Paul Devoe III was accused of murdering six people in a cross-country killing spree. His first victim, Michael Jay Allred, a Marble Falls bartender, was killed on Aug. 24 in O'Neill's Sports Tavern, where he worked. On Aug. 26 four people were found dead in Jonestown. They included Devoe's ex-girlfriend Paula Griffith, 46; her boyfriend, 48-year-old Jay Feltner; her 15-year-old daughter, Haylie Marie Faulkner; and 17-year-old Danielle Hensley, a friend. All four were shot in the head. Devoe fled for New York, killing an 81-year-old Pennsylvania woman on the way. He killed Betty Jane Dehart in her home in Greencastle and stole her car to continue his trip. Devoe was arrested Aug. 27 at a friend's home in Long Island, New York.

Accused murderer Paul Devoe was found incompetent to stand trial on December 16, 2008. There was a motion for Finding of Incompetency of Defendant filed on December 10th. Authorities accused Devoe of going on a cross-country killing spree in where he killed four people in Jonestown, a bartended in Marble Falls, and a woman in Pennsylvania. According to court documents, a court appointed psychiatrist determined that Devoe was not competent to stand trial at this time. Neither the defense attorneys nor the prosecutors opposed the findings of the psychiatrist. The court then ordered Devoe be taken to a state hospital for treatment for a period not to exceed 120 days.
Accused Murderer Paul Devoe appeared in court on Friday for a pre-trial hearing. During the hearing, three witnesses testified including a man who spoke to Devoe over the phone when Devoe was in jail. That man says Devoe told him he killed his last victim in Pennsylvania because she would not stop screaming. Devoe's trial begins in September.
A judge ruled that statements made by murder suspect Paul Devoe were legally obtained and could be used in court. One of these statements is from a phone call Devoe made to FOX 7 from the Travis County Jail in October 2007. Attorneys for Paul Devoe were in court again on Wednesday trying to suppress statements he made after he was arrested. A pretrial for accused killed Paul Devoe starts today and his attorneys are trying to withhold statements he made about the murders, including an interview with FOX 7. FOX 7's Crystal Cotti got an exclusive interview with him from jail October 2007 were he made several statements about the murders, saying he didn't remember five of the six murders and a rattlesnake bite the week before may have triggered his violent behavior. The defense attorneys say Devoe's statements were the result of an illegal arrest by law enforcement. Devoe was extradited back to Travis County from New York where investigators say he fled after the murders. He is accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend Paula Griffith, her daughter 15-year-old Haylie Faulkner, 17-year-old Danielle Hensley, Jay Feltnener, and Marble Falls bartender Mike Allred. Police also say he murdered an elderly woman in Pennsylvania. Judge Brenda Kennedy will hear testimony for the next two days and then decide if these statements can be used in the court of law.
The Travis County District Attorney's Office announced they would ask for the death penalty for Paul Devoe. Defense attorneys and prosecutors met with Judge Kennedy for a 1st designation setting. The district attorney's office announced after a lengthy process, it's decided to seek the death penalty against Devoe.
Paul Devoe was indicted for Capital Murder in the killings of two teenage girls. Prosecutors have not yet said if they will seek the death penalty in the August shooting deaths, but it is a possibility under state law. Haylie Faulkner and Danielle Hensley were 2 of the 4 victims in Jonestown. Devoe is also facing a murder charge in Marble Falls, and he's accused of killing a woman in Pennsylvania to take her car.
Paul Devoe was formally charged with the murder of Michael Allred at a Marble Falls bar on August 24th. Devoe was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for threatening a Llano woman. Police say Devoe pointed a gun at her and fired shots in her home.

The man accused of going on a cross-country killing spree had his first court hearing Thursday morning. Paul Devoe did not attend the hearing, but his lawyer did. Devoe was in the Travis County jail on $2 million bond. He was extradited back to Texas a week earlier from New York. While Devoe has only been charged with one count of murder, the Travis County Sheriff's Office says more charges are expected.

Authorities arrested 43-year-old Paul G. Devoe III, who has been wanted since Friday, August 24th for the murder of a Marble Falls bartender. Police in Long Island, New York announced they had Devoe in custody around 12 p.m. Monday, August 27th.

Investigators say Paul Devoe shot all four in Griffith's home in Jonestown. Griffith was Devoe's ex-girlfriend. Devoe was also accused of killing a man in Marble Falls th same day.
On Friday shortly after 8 p.m., Marble Falls Police responded to a shooting at O’Neill’s Sports Tavern. Police found 41-year-old Michael Allred with one bullet wound in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, 43-year-old Paul G. Devoe III, went to the bar seeking his ex-girlfriend, Glenda Purcell. She said he held a gun to head and pulled the trigger twice, but the gun did not fire. She said Allred intervened and Devoe shot him. Devoe fled the scene and remained at large for three days. Devoe was seen fleeing southbound on Highway 281 in a blue Dodge Dakota.
