Three years after starting his project, David Ilan is creating his drawing to where each dot represents a person that has been affected by rape in some way. With about 4,500 members, the cause is on the rise and awareness and healing are happening at all times.
Celebrity Artist David Ilan started "Points with Purpose", a foundation that aims to offer victims an avenue to be heard and a unique twist on presenting this huge problem to the people of the world. Every dot on his drawing represents either a victim or a supporter and when he is done, David would like to get the word out about what rape really is and how many people's lives it really effects.
One of the first rape centers, catering to the needs of victims, opened in D.C in 1972. This was a much needed service that was not provided up until this point.
Henry V, also of England extended Richard II sentiment to stop the crime, which used to run rampant in villages conquered by the empires of the Greek, Persian, and Roman. Often times soldiers would destroy towns and rape the women and children of the towns to further their threat of dominance. Henry V tried to denounce these acts and made it part of his military code that rape was prohibitted.
Richard II of England was one of the first kings to prohibit rape during the course of war. While it may not have solved the problem, it was the first directive stance to stop this horrible crime.
