Many people vote and there are no restriction other then age. The race and gender card is broken and everyone has a say. Democracy is at itfs highest in history. Events: 1962-Students for A Democratic Society 1963-Young Americans For Freedom 1964-Free Speech Movement 1965-The Counter Culture 1966-Black Panthers 1968-Kerner Commision Presidents: John F. Kennedy: 1961-1963 Lyndon B. Johnson: 1963-1969 Democracy was trying to be put at the front of everthing. The people felt that if it was not going to go their way they were going to start groups to make them happy. They started groups like the Black Panthers and the Young Americans For Freedom. One group that really stood up against democracy was the Students of a Democratic Society. They were against the Vietnam War and they felt that the American government had become more democratic and stop caring about the people which is what democracy is all about. Events: 1946-Cold War 1946-Iron Curtain 1947- The Truman Doctrine 1947- Containment Policy 1947-Marshall Plan 1949- North Atlantic Organization (NATO) 1950-Korean War 1955-Warsaw Pact Presidents: Harry S. Truman: 1945-1953 Dwight D. Eisenhower: 1953-1961 During this time Democracy is pulling through. There is alot of changes going on but the people are finding ways to have a say. The television has a big impact. With the television the presidents were able to express themselves to the people so that they would have a better understanding and know who they are voting for through knowledge and not just rather they were democratic or republican. It had a negative impact because it took tge American people to the point where no one had a right. It was so bad that they could not even speak out on their negative views on the president no matter where they were. The Democracy was growing due to the numerous things that were created for the people. It opened the doors for immagrants and the growth of industry. But Slavery was still in full effect. Democracy is by the people for the people and during this period African Americans were not able to have the same freedoms as others. Democracy was definitly hanging by a string. Jackson believed that regular people could get a great education too. During this period there were plenty of opportunites that were offered for the middle class. The United States adopted the Bill Of Rights and it allowed an economic and a demographic growth for the people. It targeted the political part of America. The constitution allowed centralized government in which checks and balances were given to the three parts of government. And the Bill of Rights created a protection for the people to have the freedoms they deserved.
