Last session of the Constitute National Assembly. During its 2 years it dismantled feudalist privileges and had begun recording both gov. and society. The constitution now in place legalized a constitutional monarchy and a unicameral legislature over whose laws Louis XVI had a veto. It also provided for only a little franchise for: “citizens actives”, those who paid a certain amount it taxes. And, in effect, only about 50,000 citizens, chosen amongst the richest tax payers, could elect deputies and representatives to various district councils.
