Kelsey O'Keefe's Thanksgiving Break 2010 has no followers yet. Be the first one to follow.
I brought up all my Christmas decorations from last year back up to school to decorate the dorm room and make it look more festive! We have snowflakes hanging from the light, tinsel on the walls, lights galore, and a little Christmas Tree on the microwave.
It's a tradition in my family to go to EL Azteco every single time we're all together in East Lansing. So to top off Thanksgiving Break we stopped for nachos at El Az. A yummy way to end the long weekend.
Because I was traveling around so much I didn't get to see many high school friends, but I sure saw my fair share of people over this break.

Here is a little drawing of all the major places I visited over break.
Woo what a whirlwind of a weekend, but now its time to head back to the good ole East Lansing. miles traveled tally: 850
Even though I was already exhausted from all my long car rides, the wedding and reception ended up being a lot of fun! I got to see all my family friends, who I don't see that much and their was an amazing band to liven things up. The reception was held at the yacht club in Bay Harbor,Petoskey, a truly beautiful area right on the water.
The purpose of our trip was a family friend of ours was getting married this weekend up in Petoskey, Michigan. The wedding was held in a beautiful old church in downtown Petoskey.
After we got to our Hotel in Petoskey my family and I cheered on the Big Ten Champion Spartans to another victory! Both my parents are Michigan State Alum so this was a very exciting day for all of us!
We woke up bright and early for yet another trip in the car. This time our destination was Petoskey. I brought my whole backpack thinking that all this time in the car would give me a good amount of time to actually do something productive, but I just ended up sleeping pretty much the entire time. miles traveled tally: 640
After a little black Friday shopping, I spent most of the night over at my neighbors house, who I call my second family, because we've lived next to each other our whole life. We played the wii for a while, then my neighbor Elizabeth and I dominated in the game Password.
It's a tradition in my family every year to get our Christmas tree from a small family owned lot in downtown Royal Oak. Picking out the tree is and always will be one of my favorite memories and now that i'm in college we always make time to get it over Thanksgiving.
My mom, sister, and I decided to do some late Black Friday shopping to see if their were any good deals still out there. We ended up finding a few things at Target and Nordstrom Rack, but we didn't end up buying anything because the lines were still to long :/
After a quick breakfast in the hotel with my grandparents we left early to head back home for the day. As soon as we got home, my cat stripes and I settled down for a much needed nap/ Real Housewives marathon. miles traveled tally: 380
After a scrumptious meal and some present all the cousins headed downstairs for some ping pong, pool and darts. We could tell all the adults wanted some kid free time and we were happy to give them that.
While their are only 14 of us eating on Thanksgiving. I have some guys in my family with HUGE appetites, so we nearly finished the 23 pound turkey that my uncle got. In addition to all the traditional Thanksgiving foods, every year we have to have two different kinds of potatoes because they're my cousin and I's favorite. My Aunt Amy always make the best dessert in the world! This is a picture of one of the many kinds of cookies she made. Yum!
Both of my mom's brothers are big on hunting so their house is decked out with several deer and moose heads. I counted 6 in the basement and then this beauty is directly above their fireplace in the living room.
Every Thanksgiving we drive up to my cousin's house in Clare, Michigan to celebrate with my moms side of the family. I usually only see my cousins during big celebrations so I really look forward to seeing everyone over Thanksgiving. miles traveled tally: 230
After we got home from a delicious lunch my sister and I decided to do a little shopping. We had a wedding to go to on Saturday and I still didn't have shoes for my dress! gasp. So that was the first thing we had to find. After picking up my shoes from the mall we made a target run.
-jeans from Target $10
-heels from Urbanoutfitters $50
After I picked Erin up from school we went to Mexican town in Detroit for lunch with my dad. Every time we eat downtown we go to our favorite restaurant, Taqueria Lupita's. It's a hole in the wall restaurant with the absolute best and authentic Mexican food around!
After several weeks of not doing laundry at school it was about time I stopped procrastinating and do some very necessary laundry for my trip up north the next morning.
On Wednesday morning I volunteered to pick my sister, Erin, up from school. She's a freshman in high school this year so it was very odd to see her walking out of the school I went to for 4 years!
My neighbor Ally and I packed up her car after journalism on Tuesday night for the hour and fifteen minute ride back to Royal Oak. This drive was the first one of many to come this weekend.
