She was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for the December 1957 issue. Her centerfold was photographed by Herbert Melford and Mike Shea. Vargas, who began modeling when she was a teenager, had a steady career before and after her Playmate appearance as a model and bit actress. Frequent Playboy photographer Peter Gowland used images of her in many of his instruction books.

She eventually married acting coach Burt Lane and divorced him in 1965, shortly after her daughter Diane was born. She later settled in Georgia.

Donlon had a busy life before becoming a Playmate - she attended a French convent school in New York State, became a successful model in New York City, was a contract player at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and had married twice before she appeared in Playboy. Her centerfold was photographed by Peter Gowland. In a newer edition of The Playmate Book, Jani says she had totally forgotten about her Playboy work until her grown daughter presented her with a copy of the book's first edition, complete with pictures of herself. Since then, Jani has returned to the Playboy fold by attending some convention events.

Her centerfold was photographed by Peter Gowland. Her name is usually spelled Saundra Edwards. In addition to her modeling career for Playboy and other men's magazines, Edwards, who is part Cherokee, was a showgirl in Las Vegas. Her acting credits - she was a contract player at Warner Bros. - including a few films and many more television roles in shows such as Hawaiian Eye and Maverick (her Maverick episode was "Holiday at Hollow Rock" with James Garner). She retired from show business in the 1960s. Edwards married actor Tom Gilson on December 8, 1961 and had a son named Thomas S. Gilson Jr (born the same day). She separated from him in August 1962 after he became abusive, after which she moved in with her sister and brother-in-law. On October 6, 1962, Edwards killed Gilson with a shotgun blast through the heart after he broke into the house where she was staying. A coroner's jury later ruled the shooting as justifiable homicide. The scandal, however, abruptly ended her acting career.

She was engaged to the singer Nino Tempo in 1957. Blair was the inspiration for his song "Looney over Juney". The next year, she broke off her engagement with Tempo and started dating Lindsay Crosby, Bing Crosby's son. Through the late 1950s, she also dated Dick Sargent, Barry Coe, Mickey Callan, and Bill Holmes, as well as other Hollywood actors. On May 21, 1961, Blair married David Nelson and joined the cast of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Ricky Nelson was the best man. She had two sons with David: Daniel Blair Nelson in 1962 and Jamie Eric Nelson in 1966. They were divorced in 1975.
