Muhammad Ali suffers from parkinsons desease. Parkinsons is an awful disease. Today, in 2011 Ali is doing what he can to find a cure for the parkinsons.
At the 1996 olympics Muhammad Ali lit the torch. At this point in his life, he was fighting Parkinsons disease.
Muhammad Ali announced in 1984 that he had Parkinsons Desease. Parkinsons desease is a desease in the brain. It's usually caused by being hit in the head too many times. Parkinsons usually consists of slurred speach, and stiffness in the muscles.
After Ali lost the title yet again in 1978, he decided it was time for him to retire. As it was, media was saying that he was too old to be fighting anyway. Now he thought that it was finally his time.
In september, after already losing the title a couple of times, Ali gained the title back. He was yet again the heavy weight champion of the world. Ali wasn't ready to sto fighting just yet.
Muhammad Ali fought Leon Spinks in 1978 and lost his title. But he wasn't done fighting jst then. Later on, on September 15th 1978, Ali gained the title back just one more time.
Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier Fought for the heavy weight champion title. Joe Frazier had it at the time. By the end of the fight Ali was the heavy weight champion of the world.
The Rumble In The Jungle was a huge fight between Muhammad Ali and George Forman. It had the biggest purse ever. Each fighter got $5 million.
Ali fought many, many fights until he finally got his title back. It took him 2 years to finally get it back. But in the end he was again the heavy weight champion.
It was against Ali's religion to go fight in the war, so the Supreme Court found him not guilty. He then got his license and passport back. He was finally able to fight again.
Ali fought Joe Frazier. It ended up being his first professional defeat. Because Frazier beat Ali, he became the heavy weight champion.
Muhammad Ali beat Quory in a fight on October 26 1970. Ali was a fantastic fight and beat almost everybody that he went up against. He was known to be very fast on his feet.
Muhammad Ali was drafted by the draft board. When they called his name, they called him Cassius Marcellus clay instead of Muhammad Ali. He refused to go to war. It was against his religion to fight in war. He lost his title, license, and passport.
Ali was doing what he could to earn money. He was not aloud to fight, therefore he wasn't earning any money, and he was still paying his trainers. He was going through tough times at this point.
After the big fight with Sonny Liston, Cassius Marcellus Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali, and joined the nation of Islam. He was given that name by the leader of the nation of Islam. The media wasn't very fond of this, but eventually, after quite a long period f time, Muhammad was finally called by his new name, Muhammad Ali.
Cassius Clay Beat Sonny Liston. Sonny Liston was the heavy weight champion of the world at this point. But after this fight, that changed. Clay became the heavy weight champion.
Muhammad Ali fought Henry Cooper and won! This was a very big fight. Henry Cooper was a champion, and Clay beat him.
Clay fought against selected fighters and won ten professional fights. He beat all of the fighters that he was selected to fight against. By this time, he was known world wide.
Clay fought in the Olympics and won a gold metal. He was then known around the world. His life was changed completely from that day on.
Clays mind was set completely on boxing, so he dropped out of highschool in 10th grade. He never got a diploma. But he was extremely successful in his boxing career.
Clay went into the Columbian Auditorium and when he came out, his bike was not where he had left it. His favorite thing had been stolen from him. He claimed that he was goin go beat up whoever stole his bike.When he told the officer, Joe Martin, this the officer said "You thinking about beating someone up, you better learn to fight." This is when Ali began to box.
Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., was born in a Louisville City Hospital. He was named after his father, who's name is also Cassius Marcellus Clay. Although later on he decided to change his name because the name "Clay" was in family's slave name.
