created a questionnaire that hopefully will gather some initial feedback with regards to the needs of the salon as perceived by those working in it. This meeting was supposed to allow me to float one of the two possible ideas to Matt as the e-learning manager and a senior staff member sympathetic to the use of tutor and student focussed technology. In the event owing to INSET day commitments this meeting did not take place and has now been rescheduled for the following Tuesday
Hayley Wilce via email floats the idea of creating a web site for the Hair & Beauty salon as the focus for the project. My interest is in persuading the college to consider themselves less as a corporate monolith focussed on standardisation but to foster an environment where branded identities flourish. This would allow staff members and departments to feel a sense of belonging and more closely identify with their school and thus become true stakeholders. There are two key 'brands' within our school. One is 'Urban Indulgence' which is the school's salon and functions as a commercial entity as well as a training salon. the other is my own outfit - Area51 (Multimedia and Creative Future technologies). While I would like to develop for Area51, politically it is more prudent to focus on Urban Indulgence with the added bonus that if successful it could help the school knit more closely together in as much that we already share 'creativity' as a common characteristic but could potentially count technology as common to us also.
