Mohamud Mohamud was found guilty of attempting to detonate a weapon of mass destruction at Pioneer Courthouse Square.
The federal government delivered its closing prosecution argument Wednesday morning in the trial of Mohamed Mohamud. Attorneys said the defendant could not possibly have been entrapped into the Portland bomb plot.

Second meeting between Mohamud and "Youssef", at a Portland Embassy Suites. "Hussein" is introduced. Mohamud is first heard on surveillance tape talking about the Holiday Tree Lighting as a possible site.

FBI Undercover Employee "Youssef" contacts Mohamud, posing as an associate of Amro Alali.
Mohamud attempts to board a flight to Alaska en route to a summer job. He is not permitted to board. Shortly after, interviewed by FBI. Fishing job. Asked He and his family are approached by FBI agents at Portland International Airport, and subsequently interviewed.
Special Agent Miltiadis Trousas tells colleagues in an email the Bureau has been "given the green light to target" Mohamud with an undercover investigation.
Mohamud and "Bill Smith", an undercover FBI operative, begin exchanging emails. A total of 44 messages are exchanged over the next [six]___ months.
Special Agent Isaac DeLong emails four colleagues about the defendant, calling him a "manipulable and conflicted kid". Discusses the possibility of recruiting him as an FBI source.

Mohamed Mohamud begins email correspondence with Samir Khan, publisher of Jihad Recollections. Mohamud will contribute four articles for the magazine. Their correspondence continues through August 2009, when Mohamud indicates he's "got a lot going on".
Mohamed Mohamud on vacation with his father, Osman Barre, in London. At some point during the trip, he creates an email account email@example.com, which he subsequently uses for online jihadist writings and correspondence. This month also marks the earliest known email exhibit from the case file, a message Mohamud wrote to several friends while in London.
