• The Treaty of Paris
  Sep 1783

  This was the document that officially ended the States War for Independence, which is better known as the Revolutionary War. Representing the United States were John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and John Jay who each signed the peace treaty. The signing took place in Paris.

• The Battle of Yorktown
  Oct 1781

  Cornwallis surrendered to Washington as the French and American forces trap the British on the peninsula. This battle took place in Washington.

• The Battle of Saratoga
  Oct 1777

  This was the turning point of the war. They convinced the French of U.S. strength. Burgoyne surrendered 5800 men. This battle took place in Upstate New York.

• The Battle of Princeton
  Jan 1777

  The U.S. recovers New Jersey from British in 10 days. The British retreat to New York, where they remain for the war. This battle took place in New Jersey.

• The Battle of Trenton
  Dec 1776

  Hessian army crushed in Washington's raid across the Delaware River. Four patriots were killed and 900 British soldiers. This battle took place in New Jersey.

• The Battle of Long Island
  Aug 1776

  The British wanted New York because of its great location so the British attacked closing in on the patriots. The battle took place in New York.

• The Declaration of Independence
  Jul 1776

  It was the 2nd formal declaration issued by the Continental Congress to inform the separation from British. The Declaration was written in Philadelphia.

• The Battle of Bunker Hill
  Jun 1775

  The second Battle of the Revolutionary War. 1/6 of all British officers killed in war died here. This was the only battle in long siege of Boston.

• The Battle of Lexington and Concord
  Apr 1775

  This was the battle that started the revolutionary war. This was also the first armed conflict. It was a propaganda victory for the U.S. 95 patriots were killed and 270 British soldiers were killed. This battle took place in Massachusetts.
