In 1956 Elie Weisel was in New York reporting on the United Nations then Elie was struck by a taxi cab and was put into a wheel chair for a year.
Weisel set down his memories in Yiddish, in a 900 page paper of his memories and he called it "Un die welt hot geshvign." Eilie Weisel didn't like to talk about his life and it took 10 years for him to start to write about the problem back then.
On April 30, 1945 hitler committed suicide and 8 days later Germany from a long war with several other countries finally surrendered on May 8th 1945 and that was the time Germany stopped killing jews.
Nazis came to Weisel's village and forced them into the "ghetto." The Nazis were a group formed in Germany by a man named Adolf Hitler. The Nazis disliked all jews and all people who did not believe in what they believed. So the jews and people they didn't like they put in "ghetto" places that have broken down houses barely any food or any showers that work, and they did a thing called "Selection," it was when the Nazis came to the "ghetto" and took Jews to kill. Lots of Jewish people try hiding lots failed to do so but then again lots of them managed to stay hidden.
September 30th 1928 Eleazer Weisel is born.He lived in the region that was claimed for a very long time by both Hungary and Romania. In the 20th century, it changed hands repeatedly, as his country was a hostage of the war.
