8000 british attacked the south side of the port of New Orlens on Jan 8.2000 british were killed and 20 americans were.This battle never needed to happen but neither side herd of the peace treaty sighned in Ghent.
On August 24, 1814 the British invaded and occupied the capitol of Washington D.C. They proceeded to burn The capitol's public buildings. They believe that the burning of D.C. happened in rebel to the burning and raiding of york. This ended badly and laer cause the American to lose at the Battle of Bladensburg. This was a rough time for the United States.
On December 24, 1814 in Ghent the British and the Americans signed a treaty called the Treaty of Ghent. this treaty was signed to replace the standings that they had before the Wr of 1812. That included realeseing prisioners of war and restored all the warlands. They also gave back all boats that were captured during the war. This help restore some of the peace they had before the war.
The battle of Thames also known as the battle of morauiantown.William henry took a army of 3,500 across lake erie in pursue of fleeting British.The battle took place near prsent day Chatham Ontario.The result was the americans won and tecumseh an influencial leader died breaking the bond btween Shawnee and British.
The Battle of Lake Erie was a battle against the British and Americans. the U.S. sent Oliver Hazerd Perry over to try to make peace with the British, but ended up failing. During the battle, the Americans had nine ships and the British had six. By night the British lowered their flag and surrendered to the americans.
Ameican commander-in-chief, Major Henry Dearborn, believed destruction of two British ships that were known to be based at York would threaten British control of the lake. It turns out, it did. The U.S. won this battle. The United States burned York and some important building in it. This was one of the first American victories on land during the War of 1812.
The United States lost Fort Mackinac on August 16th, 1812. On July 17th, 1812, Great Britian attacked the fort with the help of Native Americans. Lieutenant Porter Hanks surrendered without a fight because his army consisted of only 57 healthy men. Fort Mackinac was called "Fort Michilimackinac" at the time. It's located in northern Michigan.

The U.S invaded Canada from Detroit in 1812.There are three battles that take place. One in Detroit, the next in Niagra, and the last battle by Lake Champlain. All three battles were loses.The surrender at Detroit lost a whole American army.

The American declared war on Britian in 1812. They were sick of the treatment Britian provided them with. The Americans wanted to expand northwest, but the British wouldn't let them because of their rivalry with France. Also Britian was impressing their sailors and providing the indians with weapons to fight the Americans out of the Northwest. All this angered and hurt the honour of the Americans. This caused them to declare war on Britian and start war of 1812.
The surrender of detroit was the early engagement in the Anglo american war of 1812 .this was forced under Major General Issac Brock with the native americans shawnee leader Tecumseh. they intimitaded willium hull into surrending the town of detroit.

On July 1st, 1812, the U.S. decided to invade upper Canada. The leader of this was U.S. General Hull. In the end the U.S. failed and started hatred between U.S. and Canada.
General William Henry Harrison knew that Tecumseh was not in Prophetstown. He decided to attck Prophetstown, which is near present-day West Lafayette, Indiana. The Prophet, Tecumseh's brother, panicked and led his warriors into battle. The American army had about 1,000 men there to fight. The U.S. won the battle and Prophetstown was burned. Later, in revenge, some Native Americans raided frontier settlements.
On June 22, 1807 in Norfolk Virginia the American ship ,the Chesapeake was fired on by the Britsh ship, the Leopard. Our ship was so full of supplys because we planned on a long trip so we were only able to send one return shot back. As soon as we knew we weren't going to win, we surrendered. The British refused our surrender and proceded to board our ship and search it for desserters.
Starting in 1803, Great Britian impressed many American sailors. By 1812, about 10,000 sailors had been impressed. The sailors were forced to work on British ships. Great Britian would not stop doing this, no matter what we did. Britian believed Americans were still British citizens, ("Once an Englishman, always an Englishman.") so they thought they had the right to kidnap them. This was one of the main causes of the war.
