President Bush introduces the Terrorist Surveillance Act of 2006, where the president would be given certain additional limited statutory authority to conduct electronic surveillance of suspected terrorists in the United States subject to enhanced Congressional oversight.
The 9/11 terrorist attacks occurred, where terrorists hijacked 4 commercial jet airliners, and were intentionally crashed in New York City, The Pentagon and in rural Pennsylvania killing over 3,000. The 9/11 Commission Report stated Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is alleged to have been the architect of the attacks.
