Embattled IPL commissioner Lalit Modi turned down a possibly lucrative plan spearheaded by Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra to a set up a separate cricket league in the Gulf saying the Indian board would not be party to what he called "unorganised cricket." The London-based husband of actor Shilpa Shetty and Modi exchanged extensive correspondence in April on the issue. Modi's stance seems to fly in the face of earlier reports suggesting he had plotted to set up a breakaway league in England.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, G Padmanabhan, MD and CEO of Bank of Rajasthan said the BoR board has given an in-principle nod for merger with ICICI Bank.

The BCCI asked Mr Modi to reply to the allegations in 15 days, saying: "If Modi's reply convinces the members, proceedings will be dropped, so we will wait for his reply." The BCCI named Chirayu Amin, an industrialist and head of the Baroda Cricket Association, as interim chairman. It said a number of documents were missing from the IPL office which tax officials had been asking for. The BCCI appointed a board member to oversee their collection. BCCI president Shashank Manohar said: "The IPL is a great property and commercial aspects in certain events is an important thing. However, ethics and transparency is more important." He added: "Everyday the income tax department is asking for documents but we don't have them in our custody."

The possibility of designing tour packages for National Chambal Sanctuary in Morena and Bhind districts of MP was explored by the MP Ecotourism Development Board. A group of adventure tour operators and hoteliers were taken to an expedition organized by the Board during 18-20 February, 2007, sailing 186 km in three days through the river. The river Chambal originates at Manpura, Mhow town of district Indore of Madhya Pradesh and flows through the ravines of MP, Rajasthan and UP and becomes a tributary to river Yamuna in Etawah district in UP at Pachnada. The beauty of crystal blue waters of Chambal support an ecosystem rich in biodiversity. The possibility of roping in the rich area to tourism zones operational from Ranthambore, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Agra, Gwalior and Khajuraho remained unexplored till date. The rare sighting of Gangetic Dolphin, Mugger, Crocodiles and several species of Turtle is common in the riverine ecosystem. There are more than 100 species of migratory birds visiting the river habitat. The habitat provided to these animals in the river is an amusing attraction for tourists. Since the river flows through three States, the lack of consensus and co-ordination on the common issue of developing tourism activities still remains untouched. The railway accident in Mathura which killed 22 people may find its root in an alleged escape attempt by an on-board undertrial, prompting accompanying policemen to pull the chain bringing Mewar Express to a halt. The office of Senior Superintendent of Police, Mathura City, said it had got two complaints- one relating to the train accident and the other being that of an accused escaping from the custody of accompanying Rajasthan policemen. It is alleged that Munna Sazid, an accused in a robbery case, was being taken from Kota in Rajasthan to the capital in Delhi-bound Mewar Express for a hearing at the Tis Hazari court.

Kalpana Chawla Memorial Award08 was organized by Biyani Girls College in the memory of Late Ms. Kalpana Chawla, the brave cosmos lady who has always been the mentor of our institution. Mr. Banarasi Lal Chawla F/o. of Late Ms. Kalpana Chawla was the chief guest for the occasion Mr. Surendra Chelawat, Addl Vice President, Bank of Rajasthan was the special guest. Bank of Rajasthan was the sponsor for the occasion. All the girl students of different institutions of Jaipur who had secured above 90% marks in Secondary Board Examination were awarded with the shields and certificates. Students got motivated and were thrilled to receive the award by the Honble Sh. Banarasi Lal Chawla. Overall, the programme was a huge success.
