His act is one of the hottest tickets in Las Vegas, and he has guested on both the David Letterman and Oprah Winfrey shows. The notoriously hard-to-please Simon Cowell called him "one of the best entertainers in the world." Not bad for a guy who was a virtual unknown just two years ago. Watch the full episode online at video.visiontv.ca It took Terry Fator more than 30 years to become an overnight sensation. An unlikely combination of ventriloquist, singer, comedian and celebrity impressionist, the affable Texan -- who started mimicking Bill Cosby records at the age of six -- toiled in showbiz obscurity until 2007, when the NBC-TV series America's Got Talent catapulted him unexpectedly into the spotlight. Fator works with an ever-growing cast of puppet characters, performing uncanny vocal impersonations of musical acts like Justin Timberlake, Garth Brooks, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Roy Orbison, Louis Armstrong and Cher. Despite his prodigious gifts, he had all but given up any hope of success when he landed on America's Got Talent. To his surprise, he won top spot, and soon found himself in constant demand. Earlier this year, he signed a $100-million deal that will see him headline at the Mirage in Las Vegas for the next 10 years. 2009 has also seen an autobiography and a live DVD hit the stores -- and this month he will release the holiday single "Christmas in Las Vegas." CNN visits the proud Scottish hometown of SUSAN BOYLE -- and neighbors share! ------------ [APRIL 2009] The world is smitten with British sensation Susan Boyle and though her appearance has been described as "dowdy" and prompted calls for a makeover fans want the powerful singer to know they love her just the way she is. Boyle told CNN this morning that she's overwhelmed by her sudden notoriety. "I'm gobsmacked, absolutely gobsmacked," she said. The word "gobsmacked" is British slang to mean astonished or astounded. But Boyle herself also said she wouldn't want the instant fame to change her. "I wouldn't want to change myself too much because that would really make things a bit false," she said Friday in an interview with CNN. "I want to receive people as the real me, a real person." Boyle, 47, burst into the spotlight last week when she performed the song "I Dreamed a Dream" on the reality show "Britain's Got Talent." At least two members of the show's judging panel have said they judged Boyle on her looks when she first appeared on stage before them. Based on the somewhat disheveled state of her baggy dress and wild hair they admitted they didn't expect much. "It's a very shallow thing to say but, obviously, the minute she walked onstage we all, and the audience, completely judged her on her appearance and everything else. And I hate saying that. But, you know, that true cliche, we judged a book by its cover," said judge Amanda Holden in an interview Friday on the CBS ...

Boyle suffered oxygen deprivation during birth, resulting in learning disabilities. Her classmates teased her because of this and her appearance.[5] Boyle recorded a version of "Cry Me a River" for a charity CD in 1999.[6] She stopped her pursuit of singing to look after her sick mother, who died in 2007 at the age of 91. Her performance in the regional finals of Britains Got Talent was the first time Boyle had sung after her mother's death.[7] Boyle stated in The Washington Post that she entered the contest at the behest of her late mother, who urged her to "take the risk" of singing in front of an audience larger than her parish church.[3] She is unmarried and presently unemployed.[8] She aspires to become a musical theatre singer in the vein of Elaine Paige.[9] [edit] News media The majority of British newspapers carried articles on Boyle's performance and subsequent Internet coverage. The Sun writer Colin Robertson gave her the nickname "Paula Potts" in reference to the contest's previous opera-singing winner Paul Potts.[10] In an interview with the Daily Mirror, Boyle confirmed she had a meeting with the Sony BMG record company but said "I can't say much about it. It's early days and I'm taking baby steps."[5] Many international news outlets also carried stories on her including the New York Daily News[11], Australia's Herald Sun,[12] Germany's ...

This from is the 1972 episode of 'This is yout life'. shirleybassey.wordpress.com This Is Your Life was a television documentary series hosted by its producer, Ralph Edwards. It originally aired in the United States from 1952 to 1961, and again in 1972 on NBC. It originated as a radio show airing from 1948 to 1952 on NBC Radio. A version of it continues a very long run in the United Kingdom starting in 1955. The concept: The format of the show was simple: the host would surprise someone (usually a celebrity or public figure, occasionally an ordinary citizen) and, consulting his "red book", conduct a biography of the subject in a television studio. The subject would be presented with family members and old friends, reunited with old acquaintances, and often shed a tear when a personal tragedy was recounted. The 1950s edition of the show was aired live before a theater audience. The celebrity guests were ambushed by Ralph Edwards and confronted by the microphone and cameras. They made their way to the studio during the first commercial break. Most of the honorees quickly got over their initial shock and enjoyed meeting bygone friends again. Advance planning for the broadcast meant that, inevitably, certain celebrities would know in advance about the surprise. Carl Reiner later admitted that he knew beforehand about his appearance. Only once was a celebrity told deliberately in advance when Eddie Cantor was chosen for an appearance. Cantor had a heart condition, so Edwards ...

Connie Talbot sings 'I Believe' and 'I Will Always Love You'. This clip is dedicated to Russell & Reagan. Connie Talbot Biography: As a biography, Connie Talbot was born on November 20, 2000. She lives in Streetly, in the West Midlands of Britain. She has been singing since she was 18 months old. The song she is most known for, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, was the song she performed at her grandmothers funeral at three years old. After taking second on Britains Got Talent, Connie signed with Simon Cowell and Sony BMG. Unfortunately, shortly after recording her first single, the label dropped her because she was too young. After the split, Simon Cowell said, My views on Connie have NOT changed. I think shes a wonderful talent. But I was persuaded by everyone at Sony BMG that she is just much too young to be embarking on a recording career. When the time is right I will be delighted to see if we can make it work. My views on Connie are still exactly the same. Shes an amazing little girl with a beautiful voice. Since then, the record label Rhythm Rainbow created offshoot Rainbow Recording Company specifically to sign Connie. Her album with the new label features 12 all-time favorite songs, including Somewhere over the rainbow, Imagine, I have a dream and White Christmas.
As requested :D Hope you Enjoy!
This is a terrific story from the show Britain's Got Talent. The audience has little expectation for this cell phone salesman, Paul Potts, until he brings them to their feet with an amazing performance of an extremely difficult opera song - Puccinis Nessun Dorma. Within two minutes, Paul shows more emotion than all the contestants combined. I'm not into opera but even I had to watch this video a number of times. Biography: Paul Potts was raised in Fishponds, Bristol, by his father Roland, a bus driver, and mother, Yvonne, a supermarket cashier. Paul has two brothers and one sister, and attended St. Mary Redcliffe school where he first developed his love of singing. In the interview that was broadcast before his performance in the semi-final, Paul stated that he had trouble with being bullied in school, and that it may have had an influence on his lack of self-confidence. Until June 19, 2007 Potts worked as a manager at the Bridgend Carphone Warehouse, a mobile phone store around 8 miles from his home town. On June 9, 2007, Potts' audition of Simon Cowell's new search-for-a-star show Britain's Got Talent was televised on ITV in UK. The actual audition was held at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff on March 17, 2007. Paul sang a condensed version of Giacomo Puccini's "Nessun dorma", which impressed the judges and received a standing ovation from the audience of 2000 people. In the semi-final on June 14, 2007, Potts performed main verses of "Con te partirò" with praise ...
