Kabuliwala (काबुलीवाला) is a 1961 Hindi film based on a story, Kabuliwala, written by Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore. It was directed by Hemen Gupta, who had remained private secretary to Subash Chandra Bose, and went on to direct many films including, Taksaal (1956), also starring Balraj Sahani, and his tribute Neta ji, Subash Chandra Bose (1966). The film starred Balraj Sahni, Usha Kiron, Sajjan, Sonnu, Padma, Laxmi and Baby Farida. The film also has the classic patriotic song, sung by Manna Dey, Aye mere pyaare watan. Music is by Salil Choudhury. Lyrics by Prem Dhawan and Gulzar. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has been my BELOVED PATRIOT right from my Childhood. He sacrificed immensely towards India's Struggle for Independance. Now who can forget his Fiery Wiil and Burning Patriotism and Courage to travel from Germany to Japan in a submarine where he remained under water for 60 days and that too during perilous World War II and after reaching Japan he organized Azad Hind Army with about 60000 soldiers from Indian POWs held by Japanese. About 800 Azad Army soldiers died in fighting the British Army in 1944 towards liberating India from British shackles. However, with Japanese Surrender in 1945, Netaji could not pursue his fight and finally went into unknown on August 18th 1945. His death as per Govt. of India official statement is still contraversial since many believe he may have escaped to Soviet Union with Japanese help on August 18th 1945. Nobody knows what exactly happened on August 18th, 1945. As per latest statment from Taiwanese Govt log there is no accident at the Taihokou (now Taipeh) Airport on August 18th 1945. But who can forget his burning patriotisn and utmose LOVE towards his motherland India. So this morning, I was thinking about Netaji and finally this very famous patriotic song came to my mind and I have dedicated my Flute Tune to Netaji on India's 64th Independance Day.
