Good quality rare video recorded from Top Of The Pops 1982. Bananarama are a British female pop group which has had success on the pop and dance charts since 1982. Although there have been line-up changes during the years, the group enjoyed its most popular success as a trio, made up of lifelong friends Siobhan Fahey, Keren Woodward and Sara Dallin. Since 1988, Bananarama have been listed in the Guinness World Records as the all-female group with the most chart entries. Bananarama were founded in London in 1979 by Fahey, Woodward and Dallin. Dallin and Woodward had been childhood friends in Bristol since the age of 4 and attended St. George's School for Girls together. The pair became a trio when Dallin met Fahey while studying fashion journalism. The two became friends because they both dressed more radically than the other students. The trio were ardent followers of the punk rock and post-punk music scene during the late 1970s and early 1980s and often performed impromptu sets or backing vocals at gigs for such bands as The Monochrome Set, Iggy Pop, The Jam, Department S and The Nipple Erectors. In 1981, Bananarama's members were living above the rehearsal room which was used by former Sex Pistols members Steve Jones and Paul Cook. With their help, Bananarama recorded their first demo "Aie a Mwana" (a cover of a song by Black Blood, sung in Swahili). The demo was heard at Demon Records, who offered Bananarama their first deal. The song was an underground hit and ...
(Before The Night Is Over)" ). Ambas canciones consiguieron entrar en el top de 10 en numerosos países a lo largo de 1990, incluso escalaron hasta el puesto número 10 de las listas de ventas norteamericanas. Por este motivo actuaron en programas de televisión tan populares como "The ...

Dutch DJ, Producer and Mastermixer, born 27 September 1960, Nijmegen. He began his career as a DJ in 1976. Was given his own mix-show ("In The Mix") on Radio Veronica, The Netherlands from 1983 to 1985. From that radioshow, the Grandmix (an annual mix of all important dance tracks of that particular year) and the Minimix (single track remixes or combi-mixes) evolved. Around the same time, he also began producing, charting multiple times with acts like Forrest (Rock The Boat) and MC Miker G. & DJ Sven (Holiday Rap). He also reached top spots in the charts with his remixes for Tavares (Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel), Bill Withers (Lovely Day) and Phil Collins (In The Air Tonight). After 1992, frustrated with lack of feedback from his Grandmixes (which took one month to produce), he took a break from music and focused on 3D image work. Having learned to produce quality image renderings and 3D animation, he was hired to do commercials (Smith's, Arcade Compilations CD's), and music work (Videoclips for Atlantic Ocean and Alan Parsons Project, The), Bumpers for Music TV station TMF). In 1998 the Internet, and especially the "Mixfreaks" mailinglist caused Ben to think about music again, because now he did get the feedback and appreciation for the work he did in the 80's and 90's. Nowadays Ben is again fully involved in music, making Grandmixes in a new format on 3CD's and he again has his "In The Mix" show on Radio Veronica. People like Armin van Buuren and Olav Basoski have ...

The Todd Terry Project - Bango - To the Batmobile Lets Go (1988) Sorry about the hiss will re-record when I get time.. Taken from (To the Batmobile Lets Go album) Fresh Records X1 Bango X2 Weekend X3 You're The One (You Bad) X4 It's Just Inhuman X5 Back To The Beat Y1 Just Wanna Dance Y2 Made By The Man Y3 The Circus Y4 Sense Excellent review on Discogs..... Two classic acid house tracks on one disc blend Freestyle beats and loops taken from a number of records as well as Marylin Monroe's famous giggle that features in Bango. Both sides are absolutely littered with samples from various sources one of which came from Kevin Saunderson's track ''The Sound'', Kevin then shortly after released ''Back To The Beat (With The Sound) that sampled Todd Terry, this was seen by many as a retaliation gesture due to Todd Terry's use of the sample in Back To The Beat. The production is very raw and on some (if not all)copies of this if you listen to the B side it sounds as though some of the samples are leaking into another channel as you can still hear the samples very distant in the background before the are re-added to the mix. Both tracks on this are timeless and can be played to maximum effect nowadays, this is Todd Terry back in the day doing what he did best.
27.11.2009 Camera Club "Camouflage Club" Vienna dj´s on the decks: Wighnomy Brothers (Freude am tanzen/Jena) Smoove (Mybeat) Comante (Camouflge Club) Detronic (Camouflage Club/Pipe Up Project) House Beetle (Camouflage Club) There are more or less three different stylistic methods concerning food ingestion: 1. orderly consumption; 2. suffering through some form of diet and; 3. a balanced feast. The Wighnomy Brothers of Jena have applied the latter, not only to the taking in of natures fruitage, but by applying this also to their daily intake of music. Next is to deftly inform the rest of the world. Hereby they purloin not only the vinyl classics of others, but keep to the ultimate aim of keeping their own irons in the forge. The two, tone-artists junkies Gabor Schablitzki (alias Robag Wruhme) and Soeren Bodner (alias Monkey Maffi a), react to and revolve around the verbal confrontation. Both tap into you, starting stealthily as a mere bud in your soul, which eventually conquers your musical devotion. It all began with blond perms, armbands, striped stretch pants, heavy (emphasis on heavy) metal and everything that goes with that image. Actually, that is just a collection of lies told with a sigh and a smile. The two buddiess got to know each other in 1988 while break dancing. The way it happens with some adolescents, the different music styles that passed through their eardrums started with Hip Hop, early electronica of every colour, ambient, house, techno, jazz, funk, and ...

GREAT NEW BOOK FROM DJHISTORY.COM. Amazing photos of acid house raves and ravers by Gavin Watson. Acid house exploded in London and Manchester in 1988; then in 1989 the whole country got on one and went raving. Raving 89 takes you through a year of suburban raves, with 200 fantastic images collected together as if a single dramatic night grimy warehouses, phones the size of bricks, smiles, hugs, lasers and dungarees, lives changed, faces lost in music, casualties, friends and general mayhem; with rogues and wronguns lurking in the corners, and more than a few crimes against fashion. Photographer Gavin Watson has been widely acclaimed as a genius. His two previous books, SKINS and SKINS & PUNKS, are filled with wonderful portraits of him and his friends growing up as suburban skinheads. When acid house hit, they left their Doc Martens at home and went raving. As well as Gavins unique pictures, the book is sprinkled with great stories from him and his brother Neville of the momentous year when British culture changed forever. Raving 89 puts you in the heart of the raves. If you lived through acid house, Gavin Watsons photos will give you goose-bumps; if you didnt, theyre the closest youll get.
Released: 1997 Label: East West Type: EP Genre: House Style: Deep House The success of their previous long playing work pushed the group to first follow it up with a brand new song, called "It's Alright Now," which failed to make the UK Top 40, stopping at Number 46, but helped promoting the new compilation, mostly being an expanded remodelled version of Happiness, as the title itself suggested. Almost all of the songs from the Beloved second album (which dropped the initial article The from their name for this new release) featured on one of the three available editions, in one or more remixed versions, also including an alternative cut of "It's Alright Now" itself, and a couple of instrumental tunes, namely "Pablo (Special K Dub)," and "Paradise (My Darling, My Angel)," both non-album tracks up to then, though the latter already featured as the B Side to the Beloved's first UK Top 20 single and international big hit, "Hello," which caused massive media exposure for the CD single that contained it and its related tracks. The remix album was also promoted by a related remix EP, featuring a medley of selected remixes from the album, and particularly by a promo of "Up, Up and Away", one of its best remixes, and also the one remaining song from Happiness that the label originally intended to release as a further single, before opting for a totally brand new track. As mentioned above, the new long playing work was released in 3 different editions, varying as for length and ...

"What Time Is Love?" is a song released, in different mixes, as a series of singles by acid house pioneers The KLF. It featured prominently and repeatedly in their output from 1988 to 1992 and, under the moniker of 2K, in 1997. In its original form, the track was an instrumental acid house anthem; subsequent reworkings, with vocals and additional instrumentation, yielded the international hit singles "What Time Is Love? (Live at Trancentral)" (1990) and "America: What Time Is Love?" (1991), which respectively reached # 5 and # 4 in the UK Singles Chart and introduced The KLF to a mainstream international audience. The KLF co-founders Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond began releasing music in March 1987, under the pseudonym The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu (The JAMs), named after a cultish organisation from The Illuminatus! Trilogy novels. The JAMs' output was created from plagiarised samples of popular music grafted together to form new songs, with beatbox rhythms and Drummond's often political raps. Initially hip hop-oriented, The JAMs' sound soon inclined towards house music. Their second album, Who Killed The JAMs?, was followed by a newsletter which expressed regret that people believed The JAMs were leading "a crusade for sampling", and suggested "We might put out a couple of 12-inch records under the name The KLF, these will be rap free just pure dance music, so don't expect to see them reviewed in the music papers."[1] The first incarnation of "What Time Is Love ...

An electro disco megamix recorded off Birmingham's BRMB in the mid 1980s, set to some fresh 1980s West Midlands graffiti spray can art (Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall). Launched on 19 February 1974, on medium wave 261 metres, and 94.8 MHz FM, BRMB was the fourth independent commercial radio station to broadcast in Britain after Capital Radio, LBC and Radio Clyde. Broadcasting popular music with local news, live football coverage and information, the station became popular amongst residents in Birmingham, before changing to 96.4 FM Stereo in 1986. The West Midlands region embraced hip hop, breakdancing and graffiti art from the early 80s onwards, BRMB recognised this and catered for, to an extent, this scene along with other legal and "illegal" radio stations. Birmingham City Council and Martin Jones pioneered community projects, from the first commissioned graffiti art battle on a make shift wall in the Bull Ring (which featured Bronx artists Brim and Bio) to some of the earliest breakdance conventions (see Zulu Dawn documentary and the MAC events all on you tube). Channel 4 documentary 'Bombing' featured Birmingham and Wolverhampton heavily with an impromptu beatbox and rap in the aftermath of the Handsworth riots. Various local rappers, graffiti and breakdance crews created a healthy sub culture in the West Midlands. Later, as electro and disco morphed into acid house and techno, Birmingham's own Network Records brought the ultra-futuristic sounds of US ...

808 state with there best song pacific 202 (again with some pictures in the video) enjoy! 808 State are a British electronic music outfit formed in 1988 in Manchester, taking their name from the Roland TR-808 drum machine and the "state of mind" shared by the members. They were formed by Graham Massey, Martin Price and Gerald Simpson, and they released their debut Newbuild in 1988. The band really hit the big time during the "second summer of love" in 1989 when their song "Pacific State" was picked up by Radio 1 DJ Gary Davies. Davies played the record every day for 3 months on his national primetime lunchtime show until it was released as a single. His promotion singlehandedly helped propel the acid house group to the top of the UK charts and into the public consciousness.

New Beat Hit from 1988 "Acid In The House". Yummie. Or as one discog user puts it "You had to have grown listening to new wave, industrial and EBM to create the kind of Acid House we have here. You had to be Belgian"
Videoclip from a classic oldskool acid house track dated from 1988. The producer of this song, Peter Slaghuis (that's why "hithouse"), was a very well-known DJ/producer in the era 1985-1991. In the early '90's he had his own record company "Hithouse Records" on which came out early Dutch hardcore releases. Himself was involved in such groups like "Holy Noise" and "Epilepsia". He worked together with persons like Paul Elstak and Rob Fabrie, who both became popular (happy) hardcore producers in the '90's. Sadly enough, Peter Slaghuis would have never seen their succes and the succes of the genre hardcore because he passed away in a car accident in sept. 1991, just before "his" genre became more & more popular ...
