www.thecartoonarchive.com The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers is an example of 1980's 'cartooning' at its best. It's got all of the key ingredients, an epic good vs evil story line that spans all 65 episodes, lots of hi-tec gadgetry, a band of heroes against an evil empire, lots of witty banter between the main characters and most important of all a fantastic theme tune! The basic story is that two aliens arrive at Earth in the year 2086 looking for allies to help them against the evil (and at that point unknown to Earth) Crown Empire. The deal is set, in return for lots of great alien technology (faster than light space drives etc.) Earth will help the aliens in their fight against the Empire. Following this great technology boom Earth colonises nearby space. Inexplicably lots of the planets become hi-tec versions of the Wild West (if you've seen BraveStarr then you'll get the idea). These newly colonised planets are either used for breeding crops, raising cattle or mining 'Star Stones'. Just like the expansion into the Wild West, with all of this new wealth, land and opportunity comes crime & those ready to prey on the weak. The Ranger Division is formed to help stamp-out crime and threats to the Earth colonies, whether they be in the form of the Crown Empire of just other bad-guys that come into contact with the colonies, such as Captain Kidd.
