Air Crash Investigation (ACI) - Air France Flight 296 HD Part 2
Air Crash Investigation (ACI) - Air France Flight 296 HD Part 1 Air France Flight 296 was a chartered flight of a newly-delivered fly-by-wire Airbus A320-111 operated by Air France. On June 26, 1988, as part of an air show it was scheduled to fly over Mulhouse-Habsheim Airport (ICAO code LFGB) at a low speed with landing gear down at an altitude of 100 feet, but instead slowly descended to 30 feet before crashing into the tops of trees beyond the runway. Three passengers died. The cause of the accident is disputed, as many irregularities were later revealed by the accident investigation. This was the first ever crash involving an Airbus A320.

Air Crash Investigaion - Air France Flight 447 Air France Flight 447 was a scheduled commercial flight from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Paris, France, that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on 1 June 2009, killing all 216 passengers and 12 crew members. The aircraft, an Air France Airbus A330-200 registered as F-GZCP, took off on 31 May 2009 at 19:03 local time (22:03 UTC). The last contact from the crew was a routine message to Brazilian air traffic controllers at 01:33 UTC, as the aircraft approached the edge of Brazilian radar surveillance over the Atlantic Ocean, en-route to Senegalese-controlled airspace off the coast of West Africa. Forty minutes later, a four-minute-long series of automatic radio messages was received from the plane, indicating numerous problems and warnings. The exact meanings of these messages are still under investigation, but the aircraft is believed to have been lost shortly after it sent the automated messages. On 6 June 2009, a search and rescue operation recovered two bodies and debris from the aircraft floating in the ocean 680 mi (1090 km) northeast of the Fernando de Noronha islands off Brazil's northern coast. The debris included a briefcase containing an airline ticket, later confirmed to have been issued for the flight. On 27 June the search for bodies and debris was called off; 51 bodies had been recovered. This accident was the deadliest in the history of Air France. Brazil has ended the search for more bodies from the Air France jet that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean last month, calling the task "impossible," but the search for the jet's flight recorders will go on. (June 27)
Eleven of the 50 bodies recovered from an Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic on June 1st have been identified, Brazilian officials said on Sunday. According to a statement from a morgue in Brazil's northeastern city of Recife, ten of the victims were Brazilian (five men and five women) and one was a man whose nationality was not disclosed. Cleaning and disinfecting the corpses is a slow process. [Daniel Vila, Cemetery Manager]: "It takes a while to carry out this process (embalming) in each body and we cannot say precisely (how long it will take) because we don't know how long it will take to liberate the bodies." Air France's chief executive said the carrier would compensate the families of the victims through its insurers. The French military is using a mini-submarine to search the sea for the "black box" data and voice recorders which may offer clues to the cause of the crash.

More than a week after the disappearance of the Air France Airbus over the Atlantic, back on the timeline of the disaster and on the slopes followed by investigators to shed light on the tragedy. An investigation of the crash of Air France Flight 447 is eying the possibility that defective airspeed sensors gave false readings to the plane's computers, but officials say it will be a while before the cause of the mishap is known. The external airspeed sensors, known as Pitot tubes, are ...
The first 16 bodies from the Air France Airbus that crashed into the Atlantic 1000 kilometres off the Brazilian coast arrive in the city of Recife. French and Brazilian forensic experts, on Thursday, began work to formally identify the remains. They're doing that with DNA samples collected during the past week from relatives of the victims. Search teams have so far found more than 40 bodies. They're still looking for the rest of the 228 people on board the plane when it went down. Brazilian military officials now say the hunt for clues to the cause of the crash will take weeks if not months. [Ramon Cardoso, Brazilian Air Force Brigadier]: "In the sea area we have French ships which are searching and some of them will begin re-searching for the black box flight recorders." The combined French and Brazilian search of the ocean and the sea bed thousands of metres down, is being hampered by bad weather. Ships, planes and a French navy submarine are involved in the operation. A miniature sub is on standby to help retrieve the crucial flight recorders if they can be located.
New Air France Crash Search Images More images of the search for the wreckage of the Air France plane that crashed in the Atlantic have been released. So far 24 bodies have been recovered.
The French secret service is investigating whether two passengers on board the doomed Air France 447 flight had links to Islamic terrorism. It raises the possibility that the crash was not an accident. Alistair Bunkall reports.
French intelligence has not ruled out sabotage as the reason for the Air France tragedy. The passenger list might have been the target for the suspected attack, says US investigative journalist Wayne Madsen.
