Brazil has ended the search for more bodies from the Air France jet that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean last month, calling the task "impossible," but the search for the jet's flight recorders will go on. (June 27)
Eleven of the 50 bodies recovered from an Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic on June 1st have been identified, Brazilian officials said on Sunday. According to a statement from a morgue in Brazil's northeastern city of Recife, ten of the victims were Brazilian (five men and five women) and one was a man whose nationality was not disclosed. Cleaning and disinfecting the corpses is a slow process. [Daniel Vila, Cemetery Manager]: "It takes a while to carry out this process (embalming) in each body and we cannot say precisely (how long it will take) because we don't know how long it will take to liberate the bodies." Air France's chief executive said the carrier would compensate the families of the victims through its insurers. The French military is using a mini-submarine to search the sea for the "black box" data and voice recorders which may offer clues to the cause of the crash.

WTF? is a daily web show for small business owners and entrepreneurs who want to learn how to naturally attract customers and get the FAME and FORTUNE they deserve. In this episode, we discuss airplane craziness... like why you can on longer read books on the airplane. With the recent crash of Air France Flight AF447, this is a very relevant topic. Some of our theories may be preposterous but who knows. No disrespect meant here. This has nothing to do with marketing but it is important to time management and getting things done. Hope you enjoy and let us know your thoughts and insights by leaving a comment on the blog.
The first 16 bodies from the Air France Airbus that crashed into the Atlantic 1000 kilometres off the Brazilian coast arrive in the city of Recife. French and Brazilian forensic experts, on Thursday, began work to formally identify the remains. They're doing that with DNA samples collected during the past week from relatives of the victims. Search teams have so far found more than 40 bodies. They're still looking for the rest of the 228 people on board the plane when it went down. Brazilian military officials now say the hunt for clues to the cause of the crash will take weeks if not months. [Ramon Cardoso, Brazilian Air Force Brigadier]: "In the sea area we have French ships which are searching and some of them will begin re-searching for the black box flight recorders." The combined French and Brazilian search of the ocean and the sea bed thousands of metres down, is being hampered by bad weather. Ships, planes and a French navy submarine are involved in the operation. A miniature sub is on standby to help retrieve the crucial flight recorders if they can be located.

French intelligence has not ruled out sabotage as the reason for the Air France tragedy. The passenger list might have been the target for the suspected attack, says US investigative journalist Wayne Madsen.
brazil.airsafe.org - On June 1st, 2009, Air France flight 447, a scheduled international flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, crashed in the Atlantic Ocean in an area roughly 600 miles, or 960 kilometers, off the northeast coast of Brazil. Several areas of suspected aircraft debris were also found near the estimated position of its last radio communication. All 216 passengers and 12 crew members, together representing over 30 nationalities, are missing and presumed dead.

Airbus A330 Plane Crash AIR FRANCE Flight 447 AIRBUS A330 CRASH AIR FRANCE CRASH AF447 AIRBUS sabotage AIR CRASH INVESTIGATION MAYDAY Sabotage Flight 447 US Navy caused the crash days before 787´s first flight...right after more than 15 years of A330 service without a single incident. Aircraft giant Boeing has said orders in May were down by more than 70% from a year earlier after airlines cancelled or delayed plans for new planes. The company said it had received just 20 orders during the month compared with 67 last May. Deliveries, however, were up very slightly on last year. But orders could be boosted if Boeing secures a deal with United Airlines, which is looking to overhaul its fleet. United Airlines is also seeking bids from Boeing's rival Airbus. United Airlines has been in discussions with both Airbus and Boeing but has, so far, held off on ordering new planes, "until we can generate a return on our investment," said chief executive Glenn Tilton. And despite the gloom surrounding the airline industry, he may now be ready to take the plunge. "The analysis we have conducted for more than a year suggests that time might be now," he added. Boeing had commited Industrial Sabbotage to revive its 787´s orders as the plane prepares for its mayden flight later this month, at least according to their latest (FIVE time changed) schedule. Boeing's profits in the first three months of 2009 were down 50% from the same period a year earlier to $610m (£379m). The Chicago-based ...

President Nicolas Sarkozy attended the multi-faith service led by Notre Dame Archbishop, Patrick Jacquin. Air France executives were also in attendance. The service began as Brazilian and French ships head to an area, about 745 miles northeast of Brazil's coastal city Recife hoping to retrieve as much of the wreckage as possible. Finding the "black box" flight data and voice recorders that hold clues to why the plane crashed will be difficult because they have likely sunk to the ocean floor at the crash site. The recorders are designed to send homing signals for 30 days when they hit water, but there's no guarantee they even survived the impact.
Some 40 relatives of the passengers of the Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic are gathered at a hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The family members want Brazilian and Air France authorities to allow a group of relatives to go to the city of Recife, where the passengers' remains are set to arrive. Mariana Paes, a friend of passenger Adriana Henriques says the relatives want to follow the rescue closely. [Mariana Paes, Friend of Crash Victim]: "People are walking inside (the hotel) and exchanging contact numbers with each other. They want to be able, in the future and if necessary, to file a lawsuit or discuss what needs to be done. People (families) want to go to the (rescue) area." Marten Van Sluijs, whose sister was on the Air France flight, says the relatives have chosen the representatives of a families' commission. [Marten Van Sluijs, Brother of Crash Victim]: "We have come up with a list of names of the people who will lead the (families commission) who are to pass on the demands from all the relatives of the victims of this sad event." Some relatives still pray for a miracle, but most have given up hope after experts said that all passengers most certainly died on the flight. Twenty-seven-year-old Henriques was travelling to Europe for the first time to visit some relatives in Paris. His father hopes some survivors may be found. [Nelson Marinho, Father of Crash Victim]: "We're hoping they will find someone alive. As the minister said, there could be someone ...
WMO's aeronautical meteorology program director, Dr. Geoff Love says AMDAR would not have prevented Air France's 447 aircraft from crashing. [Dr. Geoff Love, WMO Director]: "It's a disaster and we all want to understand how the disaster happened, and had AMDAR been on board of that aircraft, we may have possibly got some data which would have told us about the conditions it was encountering before the transmission stopped, and that's all we would have got out of AMDAR." According to Dr. Love, the twin-engine A330 Airbus jets are generally not equipped with the WMO's devices which transmit in-flight weather data to WHO receiving stations. But two Lufthansa jets believed to have been in the same area half an hour before the missing Air France flight could provide clues for the investigation. According to the WMO, the two aircraft recorded data on prevailing temperatures and winds, but they were not equipped to automatically transmit information on turbulence.
