Tens of thousands of Egyptians ignored the nighttime curfew and took to the streets of Cairo for another day of protests, setting fire to police vehicles and the ruling party's headquarters. A population generally viewed as being apathetic seems to have finally found its strong political voice. But with President Mubarak's recent pronouncements unlikely to quench the thirst for change displayed on the streets, the outcome of Egypt's protests remains to be seen. Al Jazeera's Charles Stratford reports.

Wall Street executives, US regulatory agencies, and the US federal reserve are all being blamed in a new report into the causes of the 2008 financial meltdown. The country's presidential commission also concluded the financial meltdown could have been avoided altogether. But even as it wraps up its two year inquiry, the 10-member panel remains sharply divided over the causes. The report reflects the views of six Democrats - while the four Republicans have written dissenting opinions. It also lays much of the blame on what it says are the "reckless" practices of financial firms like Fannie Mae, AIG and Bear Stearns. It says poor controls led to excessive borrowing and risky investments on mortgages. It also faults "weak" government regulators like the Securities and Exchange Commission and US Central Bank - for failing to rein in the banks they supervised. Singled out is former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan - for backing de-regulation practies that accelerated the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Lobbyists are also being heavily blamed. Al Jazeera's Nick Spicer reports.

The general and presidential poll is scheduled for April across Africa's most populous nation. But the drive to register the country's nearly 80 million eligible voters has not been easy, with reports of long lines at registration centres and faulty equipment. Thousands of demonstrators have taken part in major rallies across several Egyptian cities, including Cairo, the capital. Observers have called the protests the largest in years, possibly since the infamous bread riots of the 1970s. Four people were killed on Tuesday, including a police officer, as sporadic clashes with security officers lasted into early Wednesday morning. By the pre-dawn hours, Cairo's central Tahrir Square had been turned into a "battlefield." Al Jazeera's Rawya Rageh reports from Cairo.

Yasser Abed Rabbo, Senior Palestinian Official has given the fullest response on the Palestine Papers. He spoke for nearly an hour on the documents. Clayton Swisher, Al Jazeera's specialist on the Palestine Papers analysed Yasser Abed Rabbo's response.
The Palestine Papers also reveal that US president Barack Obama's administration refused to build upon agreements made under his predecessor George Bush. The documents show that they wanted to start negotiations from scratch. And as Al Jazeera's Mike Hanna reports, that is something that the Palestinian negotiators found extremely frustrating.
Supporters of Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri have called for a day of anger to protest progress made by Hezbollah in forming a new government. During consultations on Monday, Hezbollah has secured the support of a majority of lawmakers to choose their candidate, Najib Mikati, as prime minister. The US, meanwhile, has warned Lebanon's political leaders that a larger role for Hezbollah in the next cabinet could be "more problematic", and may affect US aid to the country. Al Jazeera's Nazanin Sadri reports.
The Palestinian Authority (PA) has denounced Al Jazeera's release of the Palestine Papers. And among Palestinians in the West Bank, opinions are divided. Supporters of the PA, angered by the release of the documents, questioned Al Jazeera's timing and motives in doing so. Some opposed to the release of the Papers even called for a protest. Around 50 people stormed Al Jazeera's offices in Ramallah on Monday, attempting to burst through the door. But they were stopped when police were called to the scene. Al Jazeera's James Bays reports from Ramallah.
In the largest leak in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Al Jazeera has obtained 1676 classified documents in total. The documents are derived from a decade of meetings, internal emails, reports and studies, notes, maps and draft agreements. They detail talks between the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority, along with the United States. However, the most controversial revelation so far is the apparent willingness of the Palestinian Authority to give concessions on disputed areas of Jerusalem. Yasser Abed Rabbo, a senior member of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) executive committee, said in his reaction to the revelations, "They want to compete with WikiLeaks and come up with parallel stories. But WikiLeaks doesn't bring those presenters or people such as Atwan in order to sensationalise and provoke and serve a preordained position." Al Jazeera's Teymoor Nabili interviewed Adbel Bari Atwan, editor of the Al-Quds Al Arabi newspaper, the man in question named in Rabbo's reaction to the leaked documents.

For the many migrants who live in the centre of Athens, nightfall brings fear of violence. More immigrants are coming all the time, even as the Greek economy gets worse. With the government seemingly powerless, the jarring clash of cultures is easy for extremists to exploit. In last month's local elections, a far-right party won a seat on the city council in Athens for the first time. And as Al Jazeera's Barnaby Phillips reports, tension has been building ever since.
