Richland's Jackie Evancho advanced to the finals of America's Got Talent, where she'll compete Tuesday in Hollywood for the $1 million grand prize. Jackie, at 10 years old will be up against two other vocalists and a Virginia Tech dance crew. "I want to thank Pittsburgh and everyone else for voting for me," said Jackie, 10, moments after host Nick Cannon announced her name on tonight's live broadcast. The previous night, the petite classical crossover singer earned standing ovations with "Pie Jesu," from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Requiem." Viewers voted to decide who would advance to next week's program. Also making the grade were singer Michael Grimm, outlandish operatic singer Prince Poppycock (John Quale) and Fighting Gravity, a blacklight dance group. The winning act, which will headline an appearance in Las Vegas as well as a 25-city tour of the "America's Got Talent" finalists, will be announced Wednesday. www.whodat.co

Semi finalists, Sirens of Sound recorded live during rehearsals, Heat 1 of Corks Got Talent, 21-01-2010. Comprising of the Mc Elhinney sisters Shauna, Aolbhne and Caoimhe, this talented trio are from Whitescross. The Sirens of Sound decided to pursue their musical journeys by attending Corks Coláiste Stiofán Naofa where they studied Music, Management and Sound in 2002. This is where they discovered their talent and interest in song writing and performing for live audiences. One of their earlier written songs entitled 'Beautiful Day' received recognition when the girls assured 3rd place in the prestigious Perri 2FM song contest. Coláiste Stiofán Naofa was a fantastic stepping stone where the girls gained much of their practical experience especially playing with bands. Most recently, the Sirens of Sound have been focussing on their song writing and spending time recording their tracks which has been a true learning curve but are now very eager to return to singing for live audiences.
