Andre Braugher (born July 1, 1962) is a two-time Emmy Award-winning American actor. He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of fiery detective Frank Pembleton on Homicide: Life on the Street from 1993 to 1998, and again in the 2000 made-for-TV movie.
<p>Braugher, the youngest of four children, was born in Chicago, Illinois to Sally, a postal worker, and Floyd Braugher, a heavy-equipment operator. He went to high school at St. Ignatius College Prep. He graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in theater in 1984; he was originally a pre-med student. Braugher then attended the Juilliard School in New York City, receiving his M.F.A. in 1988 where he was acknowledged as the most outstanding theater student at graduation.
