American Idol www.calypsoinnovation.com Season 9, Episode 15 First Results Show: Two Male and Two Female Contestants Eliminated Original Air Date—25 February 2010 Ryan says 24 million votes came in and tells us that Alison Iraheta and Kris Allen will be performing. Kris' performance will benefit Haiti. Ryan says Simon's harshness was the "buzz of the nation." Simon thinks that's silly and doesn't feel like he was overly cruel, he was just trying to give advice. Ellen says her first week held some surprises and she understands the nerves of the first timers. Randy gets it too: the millions of viewers, the cameras, the judges. Kara jokes that she and her husband are working out her crush on Casey. Her husband is in the audience. Group Sing: "American Boy," Estelle. The ladies kick it off and then the boys chime in. Nothing has miraculously changed between seasons, goofy group singing is still cringe-worthy. Ryan begins the elimination process. Siobhan, Haeley, Michelle, Katelyn, and Katie are safe. Janell is the first to be going home. She handles it well and then of course has to sing the song that got her eliminated. Performance: "Scars," Alison Iraheta. Wow, her hair is really red now and her look is really glammy. It's a ballad but it's got nice lift to it and she sounds good. I was hoping she would rock out more. Ryan finishes off the ladies. Paige, Lacey, Lilly, Crystal, and Didi are safe and Ashley is going home and she has to sing the now-unfortunate lyrics to ...

Song: "Since U Been Gone," Kelly Clarkson Performance: He slows it down and roughs it up a bit and brings some smooth soul to it. It's a better start than last night for sure. I don't love the arrangement but he moves well. Ellen: Thinks he has great stage presence but didn't think the singing was the greatest on the chorus. Randy: Thinks he's mad talented but didn't think taking the song and totally changing it was the best idea.
