1. What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in December 2012? The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. Zecharia Sitchin, who writes fiction about the ancient Mesopotamian civilization of Sumer, claimed in several books (eg, The Twelfth Planet, published in 1976) that he has found and translated Sumerian documents that identify the planet Nibiru, orbiting the Sun every 3600 years. These Sumerian fables include stories of "ancient astronauts" visiting Earth from a civilization of aliens called the Anunnaki. Then Nancy Lieder, a self-declared psychic who claims she is channeling aliens, wrote on her website Zetatalk that the inhabitants of a fictional planet around the star Zeta Reticuli warned her that the Earth was in danger from Planet X or Nibiru. This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012. Only recently have these two fables been linked to the end of the Mayan long-count at the winter solstice in 2012 -- hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

This is where i got it from + Government website NASA Cant lie to you: astrobiology.nasa.gov Stories about the fictional planet Nibiru and predictions of doomsday in December 2012 have blossomed on the Internet. There are now (June 2009) more than 175 books listed on Amazon.com dealing with the 2012 doomsday. As this hoax spreads, many more disaster scenarios are being suggested. "Ask an Astrobiologist" has received nearly a thousand questions about Nibiru and 2012, with more than 200 answers posted. Many new questions are similar to those already answered. Following is a list of the most popular "Twenty Questions" organized in a logical succession and answered in some detail.

Google Tech Talk June 10, 2010 ABSTRACT Presented by Chris Carberry. 428 million years ago Pneumodesmus newmani, a Late Silurian millipede made a huge evolutionary leap. It is the first recorded creature to have left its natural habitat - the early ocean - and moved to live on land. Humanity lives in a similar period today, we have just started leaving our natural habitat - the Earth. And we will soon travel and even colonize Mars. Mars prizes have been discussed for years, but this concept has never gained momentum because the majority of Mars Prize proposals have required investments of several billions of dollars with the singular goal of landing humans on the surface of Mars. While humans to Mars is our eventual goal as well, a Mars prize does not need cost billions of dollars. In actuality, important Mars related innovation can be achieved with prizes levels as small as $10000-$100000. In this talk, Explore Mars Executive Director, Chris Carberry, will discuss a series of Mars Exploration Challenges that Explore Mars, Inc. will launch starting in 2010. The first of these challenges will be the In Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) Challenge. With this prize, Explore Mars, Inc. will be challenging teams around the country to develop technology and innovations that will help future astronauts to be able to "live off the land" on the Martian surface. This type of challenge can be a potent force in innovating technology necessary for sending humans to Mars. Of equal ...

Despite our recent advances into the depths of space and the inner most-workings of the atom, some of the most often asked questions in science remain mysteries, even to the dedicated scientists committed to finding answers. Here, Michael Hanlon, the Science Editor for Britain?s Daily Mail, identifies ten such questions and explains why we find these problems so compelling, including: How does time really work, and do we even understand it? Am I the same person I was a minute ago, even as all the atoms in my body are being replaced? What is the other 96% of the earth made of? Does the paranormal exist? Written with a profound understanding of the sciences involved, Hanlon manages to speak to readers with no particular knowledge of science but who are deeply inquisitive about the natural world.

TRANSCRIPT Hi, my name is David Morrison, Im a space scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. For the last two years Ive been answering hundreds of questions from the public about 2012 and the supposed threat to earth. And so now I want to take a chance to talk to some of you more directly. There is no threat to earth in 2012. There is no danger. All of the talk about a doomsday is a big hoax perpetuated on the Internet and with people trying to make money. So please dont worry about it. Let me talk about some of the specific things. There has been a lot of talk about a Planet-x, or a Niburu as a giant planet thats going to hit the earth or at least come very close in December 2012. The simple fact is Nibiru does not exist. Aside from worrying about the weird places, the ideas came from, all you have to do is ask the astronomers. If Nibiru or Planet-X were going to come into the inner solar system in 2012, astronomers would have ...

ET Interpreter: An interview with Sgt. Clifford Stone Roswell, New Mexico projectcamelot.org We met Clifford Stone at the Roswell Museum in New Mexico where he was kind enough to grant us several hours of his time. What an extraoridnary man! This soft-spoken gentleman has an astounding tale to tell about his alien friend, Korona. How he went on crash recovery missions in Viet Nam of all places during the 60's and how he helped an alien escape from military custody. He's got a massive heart and a wide perspective that manages to take the whole world in its sights. He talks of the rights of the visitors to our planet in the face of captivity. He talks of their sense of sacrifice for the well being of humanity. He speaks of the need for us to care what happens to the 'other guy' and how real feeling for each other is what is going to make the difference as we move forward to join the galactic community.
