New York - Ground Zero Mosque / Islamic Center Controversy This video contains a reading of The Aspen Times 30th August 2010 article entitled "Rabbi, ex-mayor weigh in on the controversy over Park51" with some facts about Muslims in the world / USA. The Radical-Right in the US and in some other countries, are trying to make out that every single Muslim is a terrorist and should be punished for the actions of, being conservative, the tiny minority of 0.001% of the entire world Muslim community, who where / are believed to be part of Al-Qaeda and responsible for the attacks of 9/11. This sort of demonization of a population is unjust and un-American. The Radical-Right it seems have made this a political hot button issue, most probably for political gains. The glitz of ENTOURAGE, the fashion of UGLY BETTY, the bizarre entanglements of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, our series has it all and more. Why? Because it's set in Aspen, playground for the rich and famous where people indulge in all the excesses of life, pause to wonder .Is that all there is and then party on. Our characters may be extreme at times, but deep down they're just human beings, who like most of us are searching for meaning and balance in their lives. Of course, most of them aren't searching to pay the rent, because they've got a shitload of money. www.aspentheseries.com
aif.thomsonreuters.com - Steve Adler, senior vice president and Editorial Director of our Professional division, took a break from serving as our Festival Blogger-in-Chief to share his insights from attending a variety of sessions. Here he talks about the importance of human scale versus big picture in the events and issues of our times, and how its critical to keep the personal in our communications.

On Saturday April 17, 2010, a new statue was revealed to the public at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Among the hustle and bustle of Western Heritage Awards preparations and board meetings, a statue honoring the values of the American West was unveiled on the east end of the parking lot. The statue, The Code of the West, was designed by artist and sculptor Herb Mignery. The concept was derived from the values of the Code of the West Foundation founded by Michael Kammerer, Jr.: A firm believer in the values of the peoples of the early American West, Kammerer founded the Code of the West Foundation, a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the common sense values of working for what you get, helping neighbors, taking care of family, and having your handshake and word be your bond. (R. Michael Kammerer Jr. Obituary, The Aspen Times, May 23, 2007) Museum President Chuck Schroeder along with cowboy poet and songwriter Red Steagall and Kristen Wolf, daughter of Kammerer, welcomed the audience, discussed the significance, and shared a few stories pertaining to the statue. Former Museum Curator of Art Ed Muno did the honors of unveiling the statue. Plans to prepare a landscaped base for the statue are underway as of April 2010. Video was recorded and edited by Archivist Laura Anne Heller for the Dickinson Research Center. Those interested in viewing the full ceremony (20 minutes) on DVD at the Dickinson Research Center may do so by calling and ...
