Orlando Sentinel (blog)Atlas Shrugged: Part 1, a few other thoughts…Orlando Sentinel (blog)I also read “The Fountainhead” and found it as arch and stiff and preachy as the Gary Cooper/Patricia O'Neal movie. “Atlas” I started and had to put down, laughing. I give my first thoughts on the movie. Bottom-line: Read at least part one of the book first, then go see the movie. Over-all it was faithful to what I think are the core aspects of the novel, it far exceeded the few expectations that I had but I am going to hold off on a final analysis until I've seen it a few more times. Who is John Galt? Ayn Rand describes accurately and ahead of time our current breakdown crisis. Don't accept their philosophy. Your destroyers hold you by means of your debt, your allegiance, your innocence, and your nature. Don't exhaust yourself to help build the kind of world that you see around you now. In the name of the best within you, don't sacrifice the world to those who will take away your happiness for it. You've heard it said that this is an age of moral crisis and that Man's sins are destroying the world. But your chief virtue has been sacrifice, and you've demanded more sacrifices at every disaster. Your world is only the product of your sacrifices. We're on strike against your creed of corruption. Force, of empire, is the great evil that has no place in a rational world. You have allowed your world to be run by means of force, by men who claim that fear and joy are equal incentives, but that fear and force are more practical. You've allowed such men to occupy positions of power in your world by preaching that all men are evil from the moment they're born. When men believe this, they see nothing wrong in acting in any way they please. This country wasn't built by men who sought handouts through graft and corruption. In its brilliant youth, this country showed the rest of the world what greatness was possible to Man and what happiness is possible on Earth. Then it began giving away its ethos. Twelve years ago, I saw that the enemy was an inverted morality ...

Reason.tv presents exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage of the movie adaption of part I of Ayn Rand's epic and hugely influential novel, Atlas Shrugged, which tells the story of a United States crumbling under the weight of government intervention and the "men of the mind" who fight against their collectivist exploiters. This sneak peek offers a glimpse into the post-production process as well as portions of a never-before-viewed scene from the movie. ***SPOILER ALERT*** This video contains portions of a scene and actors discussing the actions of their characters. This pivotal scene features James Taggart (played by Matthew Marsden, Black Hawk Down, Transformers), the weak-willed, conniving brother of the film's heroine, Dagny Taggart, as he conspires with the likes of corrupt lobbyist Wesley Mouch (Michael Lerner, A Serious Man, Barton Fink), shady businessmen Orren Boyle (Jon Polito, Miller's Crossing), and Paul Larkin (Patrick Fishler, Lost, Southland), to bring down the successful steel magnate Hank Rearden. They view Rearden's supposed threat of monopoly over the steel and railroad industries as on obstacle in the path to success for wealthy playboy Francisco D'Aconia, with whom they're investing their money, though James Taggart is suspicious (perhaps rightly so) of D'Aconia's trustworthiness and business acumen. "The whole theme of the movie is, really, human evil," says Brian O'Toole, the screenwriter behind Atlas Shrugged Part I, the feature adaptation of Ayn Rand's influential novel. "And human evil springs from good intentions." O'Toole and producer Harmon Kaslow tell Reason.tv what viewers can expect to see in the movie, which covers the first of three sections in Rand's novel. "This movie really comes across as a very empowering movie for women," says Kaslow. "It's about a woman who takes on a lot of forces working against her." The movie is set in a dystopian near-future, and the story follows Dagny Taggart, a railroad executive who faces a crisis when one of her trains is derailed. While Dagny tries to improve the railway by collaborating with Hank Rearden, an entrepreneur who's developed a new kind of metal, her brother James Taggart conspires with government officials and crony capitalists who are bent on taking Rearden down. "To me, this was the underdog story," says O'Toole. Atlas Shrugged Part 1 hits theaters April 15. Produced by Hawk Jensen and Ted Balaker. Camera by Zach Weissmueller and Jensen, who also edited. Atlas Shrugged Part I -Official Movie Trailer 2011 HD Release Date: April 15, 2011 Studio: Rocky Mountain Pictures Director: Paul Johansson Screenwriter: Patrick O'Toole Starring: Taylor Schilling, Grant Bowler, Matthew Marsden, Graham Beckel, Edi Gathegi, Jsu Garcia, Michael Lerner Genre: Drama, Mystery MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for some sexuality) Official Website: AtlasShruggedPart1.com Review: Not Available DVD Review: Not Available DVD: Not Available Movie Poster: Not Available Production Stills: Not Available Plot Summary: Dagny Taggart (Taylor Schilling) runs Taggart Transcontinental, the largest remaining railroad company in America, with intelligence, courage and integrity, despite the systematic disappearance of her best and most competent workers. She is drawn to industrialist Henry Rearden (Grant Bowler), one of the few men whose genius and commitment to his own ideas match her own. Rearden's super-strength metal alloy, Rearden Metal, holds the promise that innovation can overcome the slide into anarchy. Using the untested Rearden Metal, they rebuild the critical Taggart rail line in Colorado and pave the way for oil titan Ellis Wyatt (Graham Beckel) to feed the flame of a new American Renaissance. Hope rises again, when Dagny and Rearden discover the design of a revolutionary motor based on static electricity - in an abandoned engine factory - more proof to the sinister theory that the "men of the mind" (thinkers, industrialists, scientists, artists, and other ...
May 14th 2007 Cult of Ayn Rand & the Worship of Fascist Supermen Objectivism and Libertarianism owe a great deal to the writings of Ayn Rand and both are typically associated with belief in expansive degrees of personal liberty. It is arguable, though, that Ayn Rand's writings exhibit a disturbing fascination of and interest in more fascist attitudes towards humanity and human social relations. Johann Hari writes: She explained her philosophy at first through pot-boilers like 'The Fountainhead'. One of her heroes boasts that he is the polar opposite of Robin Hood: "He was the man who robbed the rich and gave to the poor. I'm the man who robs the poor and gives to the rich, or to be more exact, the man who robs the thieving poor and gives back to the productive rich." If you want a sign of Rand's quiet victory, close your eyes and realise this could be Dick Cheney in one of his more candid moments, explaining the logic behind his massive tax cuts for the wealthy. Rand's morality was a perfect fit for the age of the celebrity billionaire. She conjures a world where the CEO is Messiah, where the sign of the Cross is replaced with the sign of the dollar, and where hideous penis-proxies like Trump Towers are the pinnacle of human achievement. In her novel 'Atlas Shrugged', the world's billionaires -- the Ted Turners and Donald Trumps -- go on strike in protest against the "insane regulations" and "exorbitant tax" handed down from Washington DC The country quickly regresses ...
In part two of my review I look into the story of Atlas Shrugged and see if it stands as a story unto itself. (spoiler: it doesn't)
Part one of my review of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, Highlighting it's message and the Philosophy of Objectivism.
Talking to Rose, patron-saint of the conservative movement , Bill buckley chats about ayn and her magnum opus atlas shrugged. On atlas shrugged, WFB:"I had to flog myself to read it." On ayn, WFB : "Her scorn for charity, for altruism was such as to build up an unfeeling system"
My second review of Ayn Rand's novel, "Atlas Shrugged".
His name was John Todd, a former member of the illuminati. He warned us against the plan for world control before he was framed and effectively discredit by the illuminati. The words that he left on his audio tapes are still coming to pass which puts lots of credibility on his claim that he was an insider. This audio tape speaks about the dangers of rock and roll music including "Christian rock". This is just another piece of the puzzle that explains evil in this world.

My very first video review so please excuse my rambling and the crude video editing.
With many new viewers I start off with a review of three basic possibilities. Projections regarding dollar strength were met with skepticism at the original time of forecast. We might have a dirt-nap, a reformation (least likely), or the creation of another false bull. I talk about Russian experimental drilling, deep drilling for oil, and follow on questions regarding "peak-oil." I mention the Fuller model, law and financial based capitalism and how important it is in terms of solution. If you want to read about the process of collapse Ayn Rand nailed it with Atlas Shrugged. In that book government intervention based on Law and Financial based capitalism (special interest) compounded fatal inefficiencies in the economy to the point of breakdown. I go over a few examples of Law and financial based capitalism. A small excerpt from our NYC meetup.
A video review of Ayn Rand's classic novel Atlas Shrugged.

A look at Haiti as an example of systems collapse. I review, in brief, the presidential history of that nation including Francois Duvalier (Papa Doc). The collapse of that nation can be attributed to events, looting, and the leadership of that country. A quote from Ayn Rand (from Atlas Shrugged). Then we move on to the three factors in play presently; the breakdown crisis, fault line, and reformation. The breakdown has not be acknowledged nevertheless it has occurred. We see the early distortions of systemic collapse but not the overview. The fault line represents a time of friction complete with more symptoms of greater magnitude. A talk about the fact we already have a "global government" failing around us. They are in the process of collapse, with politicians (friends and family) looting sounds like Papa Doc to me. Somewhere out there resides a reformation and I think the world will look quite different than today. Certainly a work in process. Will we be in a dark age or in a "new world order." Perhaps the earthquake will allow that country to be reformed perhaps not. (An errata it is Jean Bertrand)
