Beach House have revealed the details of their third album, their first release on new label Sub Pop. Teen Dream will be released on January 26, 2010 on CD and LP. It was produced and engineered by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Grizzly Bear) Beach House, Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand, have been playing music forever, each since childhood in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and France . Beach House formed in the summer, it was very late at night and there was a lot of heat. Their songs start simple and grow organically like tiny skeletons that multiply layers of necessary flesh. In the Beach House world, outside influences have been purely atmospheric. There are many groups and artists that have entranced the duo: Zombies, Brian Wilson, Neil Young, Big Star, Chris Bell, the list goes on; however, there isn't one particular group or artist that Beach House admires more than another. Ok so to give you an idea why I am doing this video I have to take you on a little trip back to my beginning into guitar At age 12 I started playing guitar my dad bought be a 6-string acoustic electric takamine guitar had it for about 5-6years and grew out of it eventually found Breedlove Guitars and in 1995 bought a C5 Northwest (Spruce & Mertle Wood) and I still have it today before I settled on the C5 I played many taylors, martins, gibsons, fenders, even collings, goodall, everett, etc many that were 10K+ in cost and to me the C5 I have outplayed and outperformed them all. I never miss a chance to get my hands on a new guitar but 2 years ago I started searching for the guitar that could replace my breedlove I looked at many things, but more or less I was interested in guitar makers that were INVOVATIVE in design and construction which subsequently lead me to McPherson guitars I actually discovered them on YOUTUBE =) I went to their website, read their reviews, and spent a LOT of time listening to all the good quality recordings I could find of them finally I found a dealer that was close to me and decided to go check them out honestly I was NOT planning on purchasing one but when I found my MG-4.5 Redwood / Stripped Macassar Ebony I was SOLD! FINALLY I FOUND THE GUITAR TO REPLACE MY BREEDLOVE! (never could actually GET rid of the breedlove though love it too much =) So its been 2 years and I have decided to just check around for other new innovative guitar builders ...
Embarking on a tour preempting the release of a new CD (hopefully early 2010,) Social Distortion made their way back to my neck of the woods. Since my last SD fix was clear back in 2007, I was pretty damn anxious for this show: Prefaced by performances by MC Rut and The Strangers, Social Distortion came out and played for a solid hour and a half. As always, Social D was full of energy, playing old favorites, some rare covers and even blessing us with a few new songs (bringing our anticipation of the new album to a fever pitch!) The show, from the openers through Social D, was definitely one I won't be forgetting. Hopefully through these recordings, you can experience the magic of that night too. I believe this fall tour to now be concluded, but if you get a chance to see one of their shows DO NOT MISS the opportunity. And be on the lookout for their (*hopefully*) soon to be released new album. If the songs that they performed from it is any indication, it's going to be another legendary work!
