In an exclusive telephone interview with WashingtonTV on Tuesday, Shirin Ebadi, one of the lawyers defending the seven detained Bahai leaders in Iran, whose first trial hearing took place today in Tehran, said that if justice were to prevail, the only verdict that could be reached over this case was one of acquittal.
Emmy winning and Oscar Nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo, and supporter and teaching artist for the Children's Theatre Company, speaks on Baha'i Human Rights at George Washington University, just days before winning her Emmy for House of Saddam Hussein.
For the past 30 years, followers of the Bahai Faith in Iran have been lynched, falsely imprisoned, vilified and driven out of their homes. Bahai children have been deprived of their right to an education, adults have been prevented from earning a livelihood and thousands of families had their properties illegally confiscated by the government. But the Iranian regime would have us believe that its the innocent party in these circumstances. It continues to deny that it harbors any intentions to eradicate the Bahai community, while employing all possible means to slander and denigrate the memories of its victims. We need to fight for their human rights.
Ramin ( رامین in Persian, 拉明in Chinese) left Iran 15 years ago to live in Australia. After meeting and marrying Ruan Weiqing 阮偉清, a lady from Shanghai, he returned to Tehran with his bride and reunited with his family. Ramin and his family are members of the Bahá'í Faith 巴哈伊信仰( www.bahai.cn ). Like the Faith itself, Bahá'í marriages are not legally recognized in Iran, where Bahá'ís have been historically and continually persecuted and do not enjoy full citizenship rights even to this day. As a married couple, Ramin and Weiqing cannot stay in Iran indefinitely. There are about 300000 Baha'is in Iran and around 6 million worldwide. ...................................................................................... And I will put it all off my chest, That way might break free from the sorrow, Cause I don't want to feel ashamed of myself like guys out there, The guys out there saying" Why I had been blindfolded for 30 years??" So you people are ashamed of yourselves? SO am I! Perhaps even more than you! Where were all of you when Mona kissed the gallows rope? She wore the shrouding instead of bride's gown, Now go explain to those ignorant ones, That killing and invasion is not right, it's evil! You would know that good enough if you were humane, You are going to pay for your deeds here in this world, Why should three teachers be in the prison? Now all of you together say "O Thou God from Whom relief and help is sought most urgently Prayer for Urgent Needs hook ( x2) There are things here that I want to say, That might chase away my sorrow, It's my right to speak out: Don't you ask me to compromise! There had always been a voice calling upon me from above, I have pledged Myself not to forgive any mans injustice verse 2: They tell me not to sing of politics, of religion, Alright then, sit down; let me tell you of my childhood, Let me tell you how they hurt my roots, my stems, You tell me yourself, from ...
A turn of serendipitous events led me to make this discovery and I felt it important to share with the world. This is not the sort of video I usually make and I suggested it to other film makers but no one took up the challenge so...here we are. The video clips are taken from a documentary called "Bahai's in My Backyard" put together by some novice investigative jouranlists over a 3 year period of fact gathering. The whole series is available at YouTube. I dedicate this film to a respected dot connector---Rik Clay, may he be resting in True Peace. BTW, If you should ever get tired of censorship here at YouTube, may I suggest uploading to EarthLastHope's new website www.TruVisionTube.com
