Traditional Chinese Painting - Chinese Flower Bird Painting - Watercolor.Exactly what it is. I am learning. THis isnt right by a long way. Not because of the leaf formations, but because the paper was a little too damp. But for me, even in this, I absolutely love the way the ink crawls through the paper fibres. I have started growing a kind of raw apreciation for the way the tree fibres are matted together and the way the water pulls the soot particles throguh itself and filters the finest dust to the edges of the soak pattern. I love the way the paint sits on and inside the paper fibres; amongst them. I really enjoy now the act of the painting as much and sometimes more than the finishes product simply because of the ancientness of the action and that I am doing something with materials that are almost exactly the same as; and come from the same soil and plants and country, that the ancient masters would have done thousands of years before me in different lands. I am not CHinese nor will ever be at the standard they were, maybe when I am ninety, but for now, in my greenery of tuition and self studies, I really enjoy this Artform. I thought tonight I would venture some ancient techniques for painting Bamboo in my humble way. I thoroughly enjoy painting with these materials and I wonder what it must have been like 600 years ago, looking at my examples I stidy from. This was alot of fun. I love the old hand made very thick paper also. It is from Beijing. And has whole pine needles pressed into it also. Traditional Chinese Bird and Flower Painting. Bamboo Practice.
I am using this amazing paper from Sibylla, from Beijing. It is very thick and hand made and has ferns and pine needles pressed inside the fibres. Using this with watery paint, poor paint, and simply using "dirty" water mixed with a little phthalocyanine blue and yellow for a cold green and tis super absrbent "tissuey" thick fibrous paper, I painted some Bamboo finally exactly as the paintings describe visually from 1645 in some examples I have here. I enjoyed doing this. It looks beautiufl to me. To me .......... it is Bamboo..... through my eyes taught by examples from over600 years ago. i like that..
