Driving Equality organized a Phelps-A-Thon to counter protest Fred "God Hates Fags" Phelps. The Phelps clan came to Boston to protest The Laramie Project. Before the event, we collected pledges online for every minute that Phelps was to protest. The Phelps-A-Thon was across the street from the Phelps group with a huge sign and 75 supporters. Every five minutes we updated the sign, tallying how much money they were raising for LGBT equality. We raised over $4500 in 45 minutes. It was a blast! We turned Fred Phelps' negative message into positive change for LGBT equality. Find out more here: drivingequality.com
So, here's the vlog, instead of the blog, to make things more interesting. I'm really trying, let me know what you think! #1- Humane Society Visit. I have Brittany, Quinn, Charlee, me and Cathleen signed up. 4 slots left! If you wanna go, tell me. #2- If you wanna go to the sleepover after the Humane Society thing, tell me about that, too. If you can go to the sleepover, but not HS, than please be at my house by 5 pm. You can come after that if you want, but why would you wanna miss out? x] #3- Can collecting. We'll do that some other time. Maybe near the end of August. #4- I'm looking for Red Cross things to do, but it's kinda complicated, so it might take a while. I'll talk to someone from there once I figure it out. #5- ELECTIONS ARE STILL ON THE BLOG. Sorry, but that's the way it is. I'm not gonna update the blog anymore, only when we need to vote. #6- The lemonade stand would be fun if you're ever bored sometime. So just let me know, it's kind of a thing we can set up for on short notice, so let me know at least a day ahead of time if you have the sudden urge and want the banner. #7- The Walk-A-Thon is a cool idea, but it's getting closer to that time and we really need to sign up if we're thinking about doing it. TELL ME. #8- Logo contest= almost over! DO IT. You know you want a CD. #9- Okay, so my sister's personal trainer for softball (Kelly) is going to Beijing for the Olympics. It's expensive. She needs money. So we're selling DVDs sometime soon, don't know ...
