Some very interesting remarks from Joel Pollak, a rising political superstar for the conservative cause. On Nov. 2, 2010, Pollak was defeated in his bid for Congress by incumbent Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL). The following day, a tired but cheerful Pollak addressed a small gathering of Tea Party Patriots in downtown Chicago. He urged that the Tea Party movement continue. He also noted possible ethics violations by Schakowsky, ranging from electioneering to her thwarted attempt to get a bailout for ShoreBank in Chicago. "You heard some of the stories about things that happened in the precincts," Pollak said, "we have evidence that [Schakowsky] was electioneering at some of the polling places. More than that, we think we have grounds for ethics complaints going forward about some of the things she did to try to win the election, like helping contributors and all their friends get relief from foreclosures from their banks...." Pollak promised to stay in the political arena, and strongly urged Tea Party people to stay engaged as well. Pollak promises to become a major force in regional and national politics. Although he lost (this time) in the Illinois 9th Congressional District, Pollak says he will continue to write and be active in the conservative movement. Following are some excerpts of Pollak's remarks on November 3, 2010: "Schakowsky told her email subscribers that her victory represents a victory over the Tea Party, and they're not going to let the Tea Party take root in ...

A Hollywood biopic about the life of computer pioneer Grace Murray Hopper (19061992) would go like this: a young professor abandons the ivy-covered walls of academia to serve her country in the Navy after Pearl Harbor and finds herself on the front lines of the computer revolution. She works hard to succeed in the all-male computer industry, is almost brought down by personal problems but survives them, and ends her career as a celebrated elder stateswoman of computing, a heroine to thousands, hailed as the inventor of computer programming. Throughout Hoppers later years, the popular media told this simplified version of her life story. In Grace Hopper and the Invention of the Information Age, Kurt Beyer goes beyond the screenplay-ready myth to reveal a more authentic Hopper, a vibrant, complex, and intriguing woman whose career paralleled the meteoric trajectory of the postwar computer industry. Hopper made herself one of the boys in Howard Aikens wartime Computation Laboratory at Harvard, then moved on to the Eckert and Mauchly Computer Corporation. Both rebellious and collaborative, she was influential in male-dominated military and business organizations at a time when women were encouraged to devote themselves to housework and childbearing. Hoppers greatest technical achievement was to create the tools that would allow humans to communicate with computers in terms other than ones and zeroes. This advance influenced all future programming and software design and laid ...

John McCain "CNN Live" 2:28pm Remarks TOPICS: Importance of national security TRANSCRIPT: . . . it is hard to spare much thought even for the great and abiding concerns of this nation's security, and the security of our friends and allies across the world. But these dangers have not gone away while we turned our attention elsewhere. And the next president will meet no greater test than defending America from these threats . . . but when that day arrives, and the worries of financial crisis have fallen away, we will find awaiting our country all of the same great challenges and dangers that were there all along. They mattered before the economic turmoil of the present. They will matter still when it has passed. And in a time of war ... at a moment of danger for our country and the world ... let it not be said of us that we lost sight of these challenges. Today I consulted with a number of distinguished citizens who know . . . that no responsibility of government is more fundamental than protecting this country from the threats of the world . . . And with good reason, they question whether my opponent in this election has the wisdom or judgment to serve as commander in chief. Victory must still be secured, in Iraq and Afghanistan. Senator Obama opposed removing the dictator in Iraq, and now obstinately opposes the need to defend the young democracy in that country -- even with victory so clearly in sight . . . he hopes you will forget the votes he cast when he actually did ...
Barney plays with little kids.
I am 99.9% certain that this guy is not a normal squirrel, almost as certain as I am that GW Bush is the worst US president in my lifetime, and I had to live through Nixon's term. At least Nixon had the minimal honor to resign in the face of an opposition party that had some spine. I've sat many times in a park on the grass feeding peanuts to squirrels out of my hand. I know what a squirrel looks like, so when this little nocturnal guy came up to my squirrel-inaccessible bird feeder I had no idea what he was, took out my camera, and then posted this video. Within 24 hours a friend sent me an email stating that she was certain the little guy was a flying squirrel. I looked that up in Google and sure enough, there he was. I decided to leave the video up anyway, stating in the "more info" that I was now fairly certain I knew what it was, but if anyone wanted to guess, they were welcome. The 3rd comment I got was from "Skizzy3" who said, "ur a pussy who made this is a fukin squirrel." At least he spelled squirrel correctly, unlike many others. Now after more than 800 comments, I've been repeatedly insulted by people who ignore the flat tail, buggy eyes, impossible climbing ability and nocturnal habits, and assume that I must be an idiot when they are 100% certain that the little guy is a normal squirrel - Sciurus carolinensis. I saw President Bush on TV once, on a fishing show, where he took a live fish and threw it on the deck of the boat so his dog Barney could torture the ...
