Battle Of Jutland has no followers yet. Be the first one to follow.
The 1916 Battle of Jutland (German: Skagerrakschlacht, or "Battle of the Skagerrak") developed into the largest naval battle of the war, the only full-scale clash of battleships during the war. It took place on 31 May 1 June 1916, in the North Sea off Jutland. The Kaiserliche Marine's High Seas Fleet, commanded by Vice Admiral Reinhard Scheer, squared off against the Royal Navy's Grand Fleet, led by Admiral Sir John Jellicoe. The engagement was a stand off, as the Germans, outmanoeuvred by the larger British fleet, managed to escape and inflicted more damage to the British fleet than they received. Strategically, however, the British asserted their control of the sea, and the bulk of the German surface fleet remained confined to port for the duration of the war.
Well I usually sing... and this is my singing account... but right now my voice is wrecked. So for your enjoyment, here is my social studies project for "war at sea" in World War One: the Battle of Jutland! :)
In ihrem Schwedennabel blinkte Ein rubinroter Rubin.
Torchbearer is what many would call an all-star metal band originating from Sweden. Current members include veterans Christian Älvestam from Scar Symmetry, Patrik Gardberg, Mikael Degerman and Pär Johansson from Satariel and Henrik Schönström from Unmoored. Torchbearer plays melodic death metal with thrash and black metal influences - all in their own trademark style. The debut album Yersinia Pestis was released by Metal Blade under license from Cold Records throughout Europe and USA in 2004. The latest album Warnaments is, like the debut album, a concept album lyricwise. While the debut dealt with the black plague and its horrible effects through medieval Europe, Warnaments deals with two special occasions from World War I. Mainly it´s about the Battle of Jutland, which was a massive naval battle between the British and the Germans. Apart from that, two of the songs concern the sinking of a german submarine outside the coast of Great Britain in 1915. Line Up: Pär Johansson- Vocals Christian Älvestam - Guitar Mikael Degerman- Bass Henrik Schönström- Drums Patrik Gardberg- Guitar

war on sea
The hymn of our grandfathers & fathers following World War One, presented with the shadows of war amid the cemeteries & cenotaphs that hallow their sacrifice. A haunting reminder of the legacy of the generations whose 'name liveth forever' even as, in this generation, so many more 'valiant hearts' go to war. Three different renderings of the hymn, highlighted by the singing of the Chapel Choir of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea. A resource from Piddingworth Remembrance and a tribute to Sgt. EM Leonard, my grandfather, who fought at the Somme and Sgt. Raymond E. Leonard, his son, who fought at Dieppe & Falaise. O valiant hearts who to your glory came Through dust of conflict and through battle flame; Tranquil you lie, your knightly virtue proved, Your memory hallowed in the land you loved. Proudly you gathered, rank on rank, to war As who had heard Gods message from afar; All you had hoped for, all you had, you gave, To save mankind—yourselves you scorned to save. Splendid you passed, the great surrender made; Into the light that nevermore shall fade; Deep your contentment in that blest abode, Who wait the last clear trumpet call of God. Long years ago, as earth lay dark and still, Rose a loud cry upon a lonely hill, While in the frailty of our human clay, Christ, our Redeemer, passed the self same way. Still stands His Cross from that dread hour to this, Like some bright star above the dark abyss; Still, through the veil, the Victors pitying eyes Look down to bless our lesser ...
I specialize in rare and hard to find footage. As a lifelong historian its a rare jewel indeed to find footage like this. Very few have seen much footage of WW1 at all, much less a naval battle. All of the footage is actual from those engagements. No obscure battleship footage or clips from other wars included. Look carefully and you will find that the ships markings and flags are correct and the footage was all shot from within those battles. Some famous ships can be spotted in the mix, one of them being the German Armored Cruiser "SMS Scharnhorst". The footage near the end is from the Battle of the Jutland. Enjoy!!

Washington Naval Treaty, though many newer super-dreadnoughts continued serving through World War II. While dreadnought building consumed vast resources in the early 20th century, there was only one pitched battle between dreadnought fleets. At the Battle of Jutland, the British and German navies clashed with no decisive result. The term 'dreadnought' gradually dropped from use after World War I, as all battleships shared dreadnought characteristics. 'Dreadnought' can also be used to ...

Ship Royal Oak (pennant number 08) was a Revenge-class battleship of the British Royal Navy, torpedoed at anchor by the German submarine U-47 on 14 October 1939. Launched in 1914 and completed in 1916, Royal Oak first saw action at the Battle of Jutland. In peacetime, she served in the Atlantic, Home and Mediterranean fleets, coming under accidental attack on more than one occasion. The ship became the centre of worldwide attention in 1928 when her senior officers were controversially ...

UPDATE JULY 18: Mr Allingham died in his sleep at 3.10am on Saturday at his care home near Brighton, after a life that saw him marked out as a national treasure. He was one of the last three surviving British veterans of the First World War. He was also the last surviving founder member of the RAF, the last man to have witnessed the Battle of Jutland and the last surviving member of the Royal Naval Air Service. On June 20 Guinness World Records had announced that Mr Allingham, who celebrated his 113th birthday on June 6, became the world's oldest man after the previous incumbent, Tomoji Tanabe, died in his sleep at his home in Japan, also at the age of 113. He jokingly attributed his longevity to "cigarettes, whisky and wild, wild women".--telegraph.co.uk Britian's Oldest Veteran receives France's highest Military Medal

No one battle came to represtn the fury and bloody attrition of World War I better than the siege of Verdun. Amid the explosions and mud the French and German armies fought each other to an impasse. Tens of thousands died at Verdun and, in the end, little had changed.
