I did two versions of this alternative video of We Are The Champions. One with the original 4:3 screen format and TOTP's logo, and this in widescreen format, of course losing the TOTP's logo. In both the audio was mixed between some channels of the Greatest Video Hits 1 version and the original audio wich has a different guitar at the end of the track, making more clear the audio track.
Here is the start and end of the BBC Video 101 Great Goals. This tape was released twice. Once in 1987 and then again in 1994 with different packaging and a different catalogue number. This version appears to be from the 1994 re-release as the tape has the updated catalogue number- however the start of the tape has an issue date of 1991. Also, the BBC Video logo at the start and end of the tape is kept the same as on the original release. And as you'll see, the idents contained here are unique to this release.
In 1980, the BBC decided to cash in on the latest technology..... the humble videogram tape, or video. Starting with a very colourful and dazzling design, the 1980 ident lasted for 8 years, and with it came three music varients. There was the 'marching' style (of which there were 3 varieties), the infamous 1984 creepy synth tune, and the 1987 'mock 50s' Watch with Mother ident. In 1988, along with a corporate facelift, the video ident was updated to the spinning globe, complete with gold lettering. This was fairly short lived. 1991 now, and the most favoured of idents, the creepy sharp piano jigle complete with the 1991 BBC logo. It wasn't until 1997 that this ident was retired. And in 1997, the BBC underwent another identity change, introducing a new logo for the channel, as well as the next BBC video ident. This lasted until 2009! A brief look at the 2007 BBC Childrens DVD ident, the first to be identified as a DVD ident. And the latest ident was introduced in 2009/2010 on new releases, the first all round ident to be billed as 'BBC DVD', bringing a lot of bright fireworky colour and gentle synth sounds onto our screens, and bringing the story up to date. Sources: Mock 1950s ident- 'Watch With Mother' 1980 original ident- 'Little Nezha Fights Great Dragon Kings' 1984 creepy synth ident- 'Fireman Sam 2' 1988 Globe ident- 'Lion, Witch and the Wordrobe' 1991 piano ident- 'Pingu 2: Building Igloos' 1997 gentle piano ident- 'Shooting Stars: Unpicked/Unplucked 2007 Childerns ...
The first BBC Video logo, opening and closing, is seen here, with the original marching music and colourful but dated graphics. Taken from the video 'Little Nezha Fights Great Dragon Kings' (?). The logo was created in 1980 and appeared on very early BBC video releases shortly after. Also note the 'wide screen' notice on the opening ident. Copyright of the BBC, 1980.
Taken from The Young Ones: Oil/Boring/Flood VHS that was released by BBC Video. Although on the copy I bought it was from the 'Cut Price Comedy Range' from 1996, whilst the sticker on the tape has the post 1997 BBC logo on it, strange really...
from 1988-1991 BBC Video used a Globe for their Ident before the main programme started. This is a longer version taken from the Official History Of Manchester United FC (1988) in which the globe spins twice not once like on other videos!

Here is the start of the 5th Fireman Sam VHS release from BBC Video entitled Norman's Pitfall. I have the version of the tape with the updated packaging and the 1991-1997 style BBC Video logo on the label. However, this copy still contains the BBC Video Globe Ident which the tape was originally released with in 1990.

Destruction of the BBC video ident of 1984
BBC Video ident from 1983-84
Title says it all.
BBC Video ident from 1990-1997.
BBC Video ident from 1984.
BBC Video ident with the old 1991-1997 BBC logo. This used to scare me a bit when I was little when I used to have couple of Fireman Sam, Pingu and Postman Pat video cassettes.
BBC Video ident from 1988-1991 similar to BBC1's COW globe ident.
1. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment logo. 2. CBS Fox video logo. 3. Tracking info. 4. BBC Copyright Warning. 5. BBC Video logo. From the War and Peace mini series VHS tapes I own. This was the second time I filmed this, the reason I didn't upload the first attempt was because I coughed during the CBS Fox logo. Ignore any background noise you may here, my neighbors were having a party.
The opening to one of the only video releases of Joshua Jones, Entitled Horseplay. Contains the updated BBC Video logo from the early 90s
Here are the previews to Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave. Here are the orders: 1.20th Century Fox Home Entertainment logo 2.CBS/Fox Video logo 3.Tracking control screen 4.Warning screen 5.BBC Video logo 6.Aardman logo
Here is another mock version of the BBC Video Closing ident. This time the music used is "Mr Crocket's Theme" from the Trumptonshire Trilogy.
just another Duncan production.
Taken from Wallace And Gromit:The Wrong Trousers(1991).
And here's what followed the year after, the new simple yet sombre BBC Video logo, based on the corporate look which was introduced fully in 1991. Also included is one half of Smashey and Nicey with a spoof of Simon Bates' infamous VSC Warnings which were common on many Video releases in the UK in the early 1990's.
Not excellent but not completely terrible in my opinion. It's my first attempt at something like this in Flash MX 2004. Programs/Websites Used: Flash MX 2004 (For circle animation) Windows Movie Maker (For putting together, adding sound and BBC logo) Google Images (For BBC Logo) YouTube (For Audio)
Classic BBC Video Ident from the early 1980s. This was version 2 as it supported alternative sound effects. This could be found on many early BBC Video releases like "Doctor Who" titles and "The Two Ronnies". This was sourced from the early 1980s release of "The Best of the Two Ronnies" that was not great value for money as it only ran for 45mins.
Hi all I am a big Eels fan (if you don't know much about them then check 'em out) and recorded a tv programme last month called PARALLEL WORLDS, PARALLEL LIVES a documentary about the Eels lead singer Mark Everett's (aka E) father who came up with the original theory of parallel universes (hence, the programme title) and Mark's journey to find out more about his father's theory and his father himself, with whom he had a difficult relationship. It moved me to create a video to go with one of my favourite Eels songs 'Things The Grandchildren Should Know' where E talks of his father. So I used the available footage from the documentary and edited it to fit this song. I recorded the programme from BBC FOUR so their logo is included in the footage (there wasn't a lot I could do about that), but it isn't too intrusive, and when the documentary is repeated on BBC2 then I'll edit the video without the logo. I used a lot of footage of E walking symbolising his metaphorical journey to find out more about his father. I hope that any son who has had a difficult relationship with his father will find something within the song and, I hope too, within the video. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
The creepy BBC Video ident from 1996. No copyright infringement intended. I remember seeing this on Wallace and Gromit, but I don't know what it's from. WIDESCREEN! ARRRGHH! YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!!! EDIT EDIT: Seriously, how the bologna did this viedo get so popular?!
1980's ident
We were commissioned to create the new BBC identity. The BBC asked us to create a track that would challenge and excite their audience about what is coming up next on TV, radio, internet and DVD. Inspired by the visual movements and the light and dark concept, we set about creating a dramatic, up beat, emotive track using guitars, bass, piano, drums and live strings that build to a climax. The graphics are accompanied by sound design elements to enhance the physicality of the glass blocks and the logo resolve created using treated reversed guitar, synths and a sprinkling of Adelphoi magic.

Here is a rare copy of the Sign (Neon) ident shown on BBC 2 from 1991 to 2001. This version doesn't contain the BBC or BBC TWO 'DOG' logo
This is what two or three people called a classic. ^_^ (I don't get why everyone calls audio/visual experimentation with logos "spoofing". A spoof is what you'd find in Leslie Nielsen's resume. ^_^) Enjoy. FA (For All)
