The tarot was made for card games. For too long, the mainstream media has presented a very narrow view of tarot cards as a fortune telling tool. Tarot cards are not only used by psychics. People also play games with these cards. Recently the internet has allowed more people to become exposed to card games played with tarot and it's time for the media to wake up and present a more balanced view of these cards. Tarot readers will no longer enjoy the monopoly they have over tarot cards and they need to get used to that. My tarot prediction is that in the next 50 years, tarot reading will still exist but the tarot will no longer be seen as a tool mainly for fortune telling. Card games including tarot card games will no longer be confined to specific regions. Countries like France are no longer over there. The internet has made physical distances irrelevant. These changes brought by the internet will also effect the tarot. There's a revolution now where gamers will eventually take over the tarot. Theperception of tarot as only a divination tool is an obstacle to our progress. It is time for game players world wide to reclaim the tarot! Let game playing become the future of tarot! Beliefnet is promoting falsehoods and stereotypes regarding tarot cards. Nowhere on the Beliefnet.com website is there any indication that tarot cards were intended to be used for card games. Visitors of Beliefnet.com are left with the false conclusion that those cards were intended for divination and that it's the only possible use. Beliefnet is presenting a very one-sided depiction of this gaming artifact. Beliefnet receives its (mis)information exclusively from Tarot.com, a website which gives false and misleading statements regarding tarot cards. Beliefnet.com and Tarot.com should stop the misinformation regarding an important gaming artifact. They are doing damage to people's culture. For accurate tarot history see this video www.youtube.com For an example of tarot used as a card game, it's original and proper use, see this video. www.youtube.com "The Tarot pack is the subject of the most successful propaganda campaign ever launched: not by a long way the most important, but the most completely successful. An entire false history, and false interpretation, of the Tarot pack was concocted by the occultists; and it is all but universally believed." Michael Dummett, A Wicked Pack of Cards "People are often suprised to learn that Tarot cards were originally invented for playing games, that such games are still widespread and popular in continental Europe, and that the employment of tarots for divination and fortune-telling is a relatively recent perversion of their ...
This video may be mirrored by anyone for education purposes Although Beliefnet.com may have received awards for general excellence, it is very weak on the subject of Tarot cards. Beliefnet.com is not the most reliable source for information on the topic. beliefnet.tarot.com If Beliefnet.com wishes to promote cultural understanding, they should revise their Tarot section to be more balanced and accurate. "Tarot' refers to a family of games played with an augmented deck, (that is, decks with a fifth "suit" serving as permanent trumps), and also to the decks themselves. Most other card games using trumps select one of four regular suits to serve as trumps for a particular hand. Tarot is commonly played in various areas of Europe, and has been played in Italy since the 1440s. Outside Europe, there has been a revival of interest in Tarot card games especially amongst participants in Medieval and Renaissance re-enactments. "Tarot" also refers to similar decks that are used for fortune-telling and other esoteric purposes. In English-speaking countries, despite a slow but growing interest in Tarot's gaming heritage, fortune-telling is currently the only common use of Tarot cards, even though such use did not begin until roughly 350 years after their invention." www.tarotpedia.com This video may be mirrored by anyone for education purposes The Tarot family of card games. www.pagat.com www.tarocchino.com
