By a margin of 28-4, the NFL has approved of rules changes that modify its sudden death OT format as opposed to that of college football. The Bills, Vikings, Bengals, and Ravens were the only holdouts. Vikes owner Zygi Wilf wanted to see uniformity between regular season and postseason. This despite the fact that regular season games can still end in ties as the Eagles/Bengals game a few years ago did when McNabb foolishly uttered that he didn't know a game can end in a tie. The Vikings were one of the teams that voted no. Their QB (for now) was one of the reasons why the media got into so much of a tizzy over this. Pete Carroll, the Seahawks head coach was very happy about the changes but he's used to the college rules since he spent a lot of time at USC. For a while now, its format has been put into question as opposed to that of NCAAF well I think this is a step closer to such. The rules say that a team that scores a field goal first doesn't automatically win the game now. If the opposition were to score a field goal as well, then the rules revert to sudden death. If they score a TD, the game is over. In fact, if a team that wins the coin toss were to score a TD immediately, the game is over. Also if the defense were to score a TD or safety immediately, the game is over. At an owner's meeting in May at Dallas, they'll discuss whether these get extended into the regular season. The rule is beneficial in the sense that it does put more pressure on coaches to go for TDs ...
No matter how many mistakes you make in life, it's never too late to turn things around. I'm glad Chris got an opportunity to turn his life around, and play again in the NFL. But I'm sad that he didn't get the chance to return to the top, and prove to the world that he was a better man. America loves heros. They love to build them up, watch them fall, and see them rise again. Tiger, Kobe, Michael Vick, A-Rod, the list goes on. Chris was on his way, rising back to the top. It's a shame his life ended so tragically before he could reach the summit. Rest in peace, Chris Henry. You will be missed. The music in this video is "To Build A Home" by The Cinematic Orchestra. Cincinnati Bengals football player Chris Henry died after he fell from the bed of a moving pickup truck during a fight with his fiancée, police said Thursday. "Chris Henry died as a result of his injuries sustained during this incident," a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police news release said. "Department detectives continue to work diligently on this active investigation." Henry died at 6:36 am ET Thursday, the statement said. Shortly before noon Wednesday, Henry's fiancée tried to drive off during a "domestic situation," only to have Henry jump into the bed of the truck, police said. "The domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry," according to a police statement. Henry "came out of the back of the vehicle" about half a mile from the house, it said. Henry was a native of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, according to the Bengals' Web site. He and his fiancée, Loleini Tonga, had planned to be married in March, the team said. Henry leaves three children -- two sons and a daughter, the team said. Tonga's family lives in Charlotte. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said he told players of Henry's death, speaking to them a couple of times Thursday. He declined to tell reporters what was said. "That's between us," Lewis said.

In 1993 Bama was a 27 point home favorite to beat LSU. But the Tigers stunned Bama 17-13 to stop the Tide's 31 game unbeaten streak. However, at that time Alabama had not lost to the Bengal Tigers in death valley since 1969. The streak would continue until 2000 when first year coach Nick Saban lead LSU to a 30-28 victory. Bama went 15-0-1 from 1971 to 1998 at LSU.
Head coach Bill Curry placed an 8-0 Tide squad in the middle of Death Valley in 1989 hoping to avoid an upset. His Crimson warriors out-manned the Bengal Tigers after some first half struggles 32-16. Bama would defeat Southern Miss. the following week 37-14 to go to 10-0 and claim a share of the 1989 SEC championship, the Tide's 19th at that time.
