Living with Lew spans three years in the life of comedy writer Scott Lew as he struggles to direct his first feature film -- a comedy called Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas -- after being diagnosed with the muscle-wasting Gehrig's disease. Scott Lew chronicles the effect of the terminal illness with inimitable humour, charm and curiosity, and despite becoming increasingly paralysed, forges ahead with the production. As Scott comes to terms with the implications of the diagnosis and its symptoms, he must also face the notoriously exhausting challenges of low-budget film making. Living with Lew is the poignant and uplifting story of a man who, with the help of his family and friends, faces a life-shattering affliction head on and takes the opportunity to realise a life-long ambition while he can. Both hilarious and heartbreaking, this award-winning documentary is a life affirming testament to the human spirit.
