VICTORIA - The UN World Food Program is appealing to International governments for more cash to help earthquake survivors in Haiti. About $800 million is needed to feed two million people over the next year. Former US President Bill Clinton is praising Canada's generosity in helping the relief effort. On Vancouver Island, charitable organizations are working hard to keep their own fundraising projects on track. The Rotary Club of Victoria is scrambling to sell tickets for it's annual Valentine's Ball, February 6th at the Union Club. As of Thursday, only half of the 150 tickets had been sold. Proceeds support the Queen Alexandra Hospital to send children to summer camp. Tickets are $95 each. You can get more information by calling 250-744-7136. The executive director of Victoria's Mustard Seed Food Bank says historically, donations begin to drop about two months after a disaster within our own borders. Brent Palmer says there is plenty of food on the shelves right now but he wants to remind people that the need lasts throughout the year.
