Borders Group (NYSE:BGP) announced that it has launched its electronic bookstore, powered by global eReading service Kobo(TM). Competing with Amazon's (NASDAQ:AMZN) Kindle eBook service, Borders has set a goal to secure a 17% share of the eBook market by July 2011. Borders' eBook store is launching with over 1.5 million titles, including thousands of free titles. The eBooks will be made available in many formats, including ePub and PDF. The store launch follows the successful introduction of the Borders iPhone and iPad apps. The Kobo reader is priced at less than $150. A tribute to Borders Books UK. Which sadly went into administration on the 26th November 2009 and all staff were made redundant on December the 24th 2009. A horrible christmas present for a load of staff who thought that their jobs were safe and sound in these times of reccession but they weren't!. After the 26th November 2009 Borders Books UK had a closing down sale and they sold everything!!. The premises now stand empty and will be hard to fill up with another big brand store name!. This video is about Borders and the closing down period. Borders was a good place to have a nice hot cup of tea and a read of a good book in the cafe. After Woolworths closed down i wanted to make my own tribute to Borders when they closed down. I've seen nearly all of the Woolworths tributes and after seeing them i wanted to make my own to Borders Books. I feel really sorry to all them people who lost their jobs at Borders and Woolworths in the past year. Good luck for the future to all the Borders staff in finding work!!!. On 26th November 2009, my favourite store Borders went into administration and is now closing down. Seeing all the tributes to Woolworths when that closed down last year, I decided to make my own featuring my last visit to the UK Borders store in Cheshire Oaks before it closed down. Borders was always a great place to read a book and have a Starbucks Coffee, since I went there every Sunday I am very sad to see it close down. :( Also, even though I didn't make a tribute to it, goodbye Woolworths too. :(
