Reasons for and repercussions of the Borders liquidation are discussed in this segment from WXYZ-TV in Detroit, which aired July 20, 2011. Store closures, inventory liquidation and bankruptcy are among the topics discussed. The featured guest is 50-year turnaround veteran Jim McTevia of McTevia & Associates. McTevia is the author of "Culture of Debt: How a Once-Proud Society Mortgaged its Future." McTevia is widely regarded as the foremost pioneer among the founders of what has become one of America's growth industries--turnaround management, debt restructuring, and liquidation of failed companies. He has seen the destructiveness of debt addiction in every form and from every angle. "Culture of Debt" explores America's addiction to debt and the impact it will have on current and future generations. It paints the picture of a nation facing a looming and severe crisis, an especially relevant topic given ongoing negotiations in Washington about raising the nation's debt ceiling. The book is available for purchase on Amazon.com at amzn.to More information on McTevia & Associates is available at www.mcteviallc.com.
This album intens to excite Negroes, old and young, to identify with the bravest and best of their heritage, while it enlighten others with further knowledge of black Americans. Dr. Williams Holmes Borders, Pastor God's Mighty Fortress on Arburn Avenue, Atlanta's Wheat Street Baptist Church, is everybody's kind of preacher. He is witty without being vulgar; profound yet clear and simple; familiar but by no means common; a poet of the people, like Robert Forest and Jesus of Nazareth. Reverend Borders carefully gathers for his sermons the wisdom that hangs everywhere about him like the fruit in a island paradise, and teaches his hearers also to pick them with love and care and to eat them with relish and pure delight. The hell he tells about is that one which sears the hearts of those who sin against their brother or the good order of their society. The heaven he preaches lies about us everywhere, and man are led to it by their high thinking and right living. The sermons of this great preacher have form, currency and rare verbal excitement. I'M SOMEBODY is the gleaming example of hundreds of compositions which Reverend Borders has preached over the green years of his good life.
Hi Guys. It's getting more depressing by the minute in Borders. I can't wait for a fresh start.

Transcript: Image source: Tag Magazine) BY: GEORGE DUMONTIER ANCHOR: GARY COTTON Borders Book stores appears to have reached its final chapter. That chapter number turns out be 11. The company's profits have been melting away for years, and with no one willing to buy -- The only option is to liquidate. "Borders, which is the second largest US bookstore, cancelled its upcoming bankruptcy hearing and will close all 399 remaining stores for good. Some will shut their doors this week and final liquidation is expected to be complete by September." The company's last chance for survival failed last week when a possible deal between Borders and the Najafi investment company fell apart. "The Najafi company put out a statement today, 'We regret to confirm that Direct Brand's proposed agreement to keep Borders operating is no longer supported by the deciding parties. We remain willing, ready and able to move forward should the deciding parties instead choose to work with us and our existing offer.'" Many are asking -- what could cause such a big name in books to turn its final page? According to Borders' customers, technology is the culprit. The New York Post reports... "Customers we spoke to outside of the borders Penn Station location blame technology as the main reason as to why borders isn't doing so well. My guess would be nowadays the iPad is taking over, the smartphone is taking over. Why get a book when you can do everything online?" But ebooks may not be entirely ...

The Lakes and Borders Explorer was a railtour that ran on 16th July 2011 from Eastleigh to Carlisle in conjunction with the DRS Carlisle Kingmoor TMD open day, with DRS duffs 47712 'Pride of Carlisle" and 47832 "Solway Princess" providing the haulage. In this video, we start off by departing Crewe to continue our journey to Carlisle and pass the Crewe Herritage Centre, with the (in)famous intercity APT stabled next to the mainline. We then pass locations such as Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan North Western, The WCML cam, Preston, Lancaster and Carnforth Steamtown. We also pass pretty much the only part of the west coast where the WCML actually goes near, as well as some of the beautiful Lake District scenery. After that we finally arrive into Carlisle after a almost 6 hour trip fron Didcot!

Borders Group Inc's (PINK:BGPIQ) chances of avoiding bankruptcy lessened after a bidding deadline passed without offers to keep the second largest US bookstore operator in business. Bids for Borders were due at 5 pm New York Time on Sunday before the bankruptcy-court auction scheduled for Tuesday. The Wall Street Journal reported that Borders had been involved in talks with Books-A-Million but if a new bidder doesn't surface soon 400 Borders stores, including 259 superstores will come to a close, quickening the decline in sales of hardcover and paper back books and potentially lift the sales of digital books at Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and other online operators. Borders best chance to survive passed by last week after negotiations with private-equity investor, Jim Najifi, collapsed.

These two railtours with DRS locos passed through Coventry within 30 minutes of each other. First we see 47832 and 47712 returning from Carlisle and then 37087 and 37510 make a hellfire departure on 1Z97 from Aberystwyth to London Euston. Unfortunately part of the clip had to be cut short because of people walking in front of the camera. There was also meant to be a 67 excursion as well but it was postponed to a later date. We then approach Crewe where we pass a few 86s including a Network Rail and 86401 "Northampton Town" in NSE colours, before finally pulling into Crewe and stopping (I'm not sure why we stopped, we had a green from what I recall.
