"Brittanee Drexel has been missing for over a year. On Monday, the New York teen was featured in a one-hour special documentary, on Investigation Discovery Channels' crime show: ""Disappeared."" The 17-year-old was last seen on spring break in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Surveillance cameras filmed her exiting her hotel on April 25th 2009, one night before her planned return home to New York. Her last known communication was in a text message to her boyfriend. She didn't tell her parents that she was going on vacation. Drexel's phone was later traced by police to an isolated rural area of swamps and alligators. Police in Georgetown County, South Carolina said that chances of finding the teen are slim. No body has been found. Anyone with information regarding this case should call the Myrtle Beach Police department at 843-918-1963."

The CUE Center rolled into Rochester to help the families of Brittanee Drexel and Brian Sullivan in their search to bring their loved ones home. Brittanee Drexel, a junior at Gates Chili High School in Rochester, NY, went missing on spring break in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Brittanee was last seen on April 25, 2009. When she was last seen, she had blonde highlights in her hair. Brittanee left for Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, April, 22nd, and the teen has been missing since Saturday, April, 25 2009. Brittanee and her friends were staying at the Bar Harbor Hotel at 1010 North Ocean Boulevard in downtown Myrtle Beach. Big Brother will be taking an extended vacation in Myrtle Beach to keep tabs on more public places. The City of Myrtle Beach confirmed to NewsChannel 15 this week plans of a new pilot program designed to provide more surveillance cameras. "We have about 20 cameras in various locations, high-traffic locations in the city," said Myrtle Beach Spokesman Mark Kruea. Kruea said a few cameras have been in place for several years, but the city's IT manager said those were grainy and ran on old infrastructure. The new cameras offer a better quality image and run on real-time technology, IT Manager Brian Gause said. Gause said the idea to expand coverage came as a request from police after Brittanee Drexel vanished from Ocean Boulevard on April 25, 2009. Police think the 17-year-old spring breaker was snatched from an area near the BlueWater Resort on 20th Avenue South. The surveillance cameras available at the time caught a grainy image of the teen walking on the sidewalk before she disappeared. If additional city-captured surveillance exists, it was never released to the media. "Following that (Drexel's disappearance) ... they (police) said 'gee, we would like to have greater coverage,'" Kruea said. MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Brittanee Drexel went missing one year ago today, and searchers hope billboards, fliers, and now playing cards will help get the word out about the case. The South Carolina CrimeStoppers Council put together a list of 52 cases, highlighting Drexel and others, including Crystal Soles, who went missing from Andrews in 2005. Each playing card has a picture and description of either a missing person or an unsolved case. Gail Soles, Crystal's mother, says she is glad to have her daughter featured. "I just hope [with] all this publicity, people see and know that she's still missing," said Soles. "She's still out there somewhere and I'm never going to give up. I've still got my hope." This is the second edition of the deck of cards, and Tom Lucas of the CrimeStoppers Council says they have gotten several breaks in cases before. Lucas says they sell the cards to inmates. "In the prison system, there's a lot of information. People know things. You're constantly seeing a victims' family, victims' faces," explained Lucas of the benefit of putting the cases on playing cards.
