NHL legend, future hall of famer and veteran goaltender Martin Brodeur, of the New Jersey Devils, during the pre-game warm-up / practice at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa on March 17, 2011 (Devils @ Senators 3/17/11). The native of Montréal, Québec was selected 20th overall in the 1st round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils. Brodeur is regarded by many as the best goaltender in NHL history winning three Stanley Cups and four Vezina trophies as the NHL's best goaltender. Brodeur is the youngest goaltender in NHL history to reach the 300, 400 and 500 regular season win plateaus and is the only goaltender to reach 600 regular season wins. Brodeur has won 40 or more games in a season on 7 different occasions including 48 in the 2006-07 season. Brodeur also won the goal medal for Canada at the 2002 and 2010 winter Olympics. In November 2009, Brodeur broke the record for most minutes ever played by an NHL goaltender. The following month, Brodeur surpassed Terry Sawchuk's record for most shutouts with his 104th regular season shutout with a 4--0 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. To add to Brodeur's numerous accomplishments, the man also won the Calder Trophy for the top rookie in the 1993-94 NHL season. His father, Denis, was a former goaltender who helped Canada win the bronze medal at the 1956 Olympic Games in Cortina D'Ampezzo, Italy and a longtime photographer for the Montreal Canadiens.

NHL.com Quick Pick: It's a close call, but Martin Brodeur somehow keeps the puck from entirely crossing the goal line against the Philadelphia Flyers .
Philadelphia Flyers @ New Jersey Devils, 2010-02-10. Scott Hartnell scores a goal but the view is being obstructed by Martin Brodeur's glove, so the goal is not given despite every logical deduction and the laws of physics dictating that the puck is in the net. I guess the NHL doesn't like consistency and logic much. Alas, Flyers rallied back from a 2-0 deficit and beat the Devils in Overtime anyway. It just gets a little bit annoying watching the NHL get call after call wrong despite epmploying video review. Sorry that there is some overhead before the interesting part starts. Windows Movie Maker didn't work right so I had to use a bit worse software from my video enconder. It also cuts out early but it isn't much missing in the end. Only the ref proclaiming it "No goal".
Martin Broduer makes an unbelievable glove save on Scott Hartnell on the goal line. Logically speaking, the puck most likely crossed the goal line because it was already half way across the line when Brodeur flashed his glove out and it still was moving. But since it wasn't conclusive enough to overturn the no goal call on the ice so it comes out to a save on the stat sheet. (Philadelphia Flyers @ New Jersey Devils - February 10, 2010)
