He was the son of Tim Buckley, also a musician. After a decade as a guitarist-for-hire in Los Angeles, Buckley amassed a following in the early 1990s by playing cover songs at venues in Manhattan's East Village, such as Sin-é, gradually focusing more on his own material. After rebuffing much interest from record labels and his father's manager Herb Cohen, he signed with Columbia, recruited a band, and recorded what would be his only studio album, Grace. Over the following two years, the band toured widely to promote the album, including concerts in the US , Europe, Japan and Australia. In 1996, they stopped touring and made sporadic attempts to record his second album in New York with Tom Verlaine as producer. "Tim Buckley" is the self-titled debut album by Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Tim Buckley, released in 1966. Most of the songs on it were co-written by Buckley and Larry Beckett while they were in high school. It was recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, California. Timothy Charles Buckley III (February 14, 1947 -- June 29, 1975) was an American vocalist and musician. His music and style changed considerably through the years; his first album (1966) was mostly folk oriented, but over time his music incorporated jazz, psychedelia, funk, soul, avant-garde and an evolving "voice as instrument," sound. He died at age 28, survived by his son Jeff Buckley from his marriage to Mary Guibert.

It was all part of a charity event organized by The Buckley School -- we're told Prince and his classmates stopped by an LA warehouse owned by the Children's Hunger Fund ... and assembled over 500 20-pound boxes for children in Peru. the boxes contained all kinds of food -- including canned goods, beans, rice, and pasta. Lindsay Lohan did something for others yesterday by visiting the Dream Center homeless shelter in Los Angeles.
